Quoting 747megatop (Reply 197): BOM has severe capacity constraints. Can't operate a hub with that. BOM is prone to delays because of the capacity issues and nobody would want to connect through a delay prone airport. |
Quoting comorin (Reply 202): Here's hoping the Modi government starts the AI privatization ball rolling, Swamy or no Swamy. |
Quote: At the heart of Nehruvian 5-year plans was PSU-led manufacturing with the objective of achieving self-reliance. Gujarat has proved how to turn around and run successful PSUs. Today, at least five Gujarat PSUs are among the world’s 500 largest corporations: Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company, Gujarat Alkalies& Chemicals Limited and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation. Expect this model to be replicated at the Centre. So, take heart from this Air India, BSNL, Coal India and others! You will not be sold out. Instead, PSU leaders can expect a free hand at running their corporations, greater infusion of funds into deserving PSUs and significant backing from the Centre. The heavy industries ministry will be key in the Modi portfolio. |
Quoting hawk21m (Reply 199): Modi is likely to be pro industry. |

Quoting BLRAviation (Reply 205): Sorry to disappoint you. Modi is very much in favour of PSUs. So expect AI to get more independence but firmly in the hands of the government. |
Quoting BLRAviation (Reply 206): Modi is pro-industry, but he is also pro-PSU with independence and responsibility for results. |
Quoting BLRAviation (Reply 206): Will this work with AI though? |
Quoting dtw2hyd (Reply 207): Quoting BLRAviation (Reply 205): Sorry to disappoint you. Modi is very much in favour of PSUs. So expect AI to get more independence but firmly in the hands of the government. Quoting BLRAviation (Reply 206): Modi is pro-industry, but he is also pro-PSU with independence and responsibility for results. WOW. This would cause lot of sleepless nights for some a.netters. Quoting BLRAviation (Reply 206): Will this work with AI though? I hope doling out unlimited money is not on the table. That's not going to fix AI. Ajit Singh did few good things. Dealt heavy-handedly with unions. IPG is gone. That changed union mindset. Probably helped with AI-IA integration. Which was unique for a government entity. Bailout payments are tied to performance. Good in a way, but imposed too many constraints. As I posted earlier they should immediately waive rules for asset monetization and fund employee buyout. Hope here is within AI shutdown others will get the bailout money or something similar to EAS funds here. GoI doesn't bailout publicly traded/private owned companies. |
Quoting golfradio (Reply 211): Air Asia India to start flying from June 12 and tickets sales to start from Friday. The report does not say about the routes. |

Quoting Gr8Circle (Reply 218): FRA and CDG (earlier ORL) have been AI stations steadily for the past 40+ years |
Quote: The civil aviation ministry plans to take a relook at the bilateral air services agreements to find out whether some countries and airlines are getting undue advantage at the cost of domestic carriers. |
Quoting dtw2hyd (Reply 220): Quote: The carrier had ordered 27 of the costliest aircraft |
Quoting dtw2hyd (Reply 220): India to review ASAs. |
Quoting lightsaber (Reply 225): The ME3 are incredibly vulnerable to hub bypass. Heck, if the GoI would just change a few policies and build up the infrastructure, much of the hubbing that currently is done by the ME3 would naturally flow back to the greater source of O&D traffic. |
Quoting comorin (Reply 202): Here's hoping the Modi government starts the AI privatization ball rolling, Swamy or no Swamy. |
Quoting 747megatop (Reply 226): Ha ha, which will probably never happen; which is why the ME3 are quite safe IMO. What the ME3 will have to watch out for is actually TK stealing their pie and perhaps a new bird that can actually so Australia Europe non stop efficiently. |
Quoting lightsaber (Reply 231): I can dream. But as a betting man, I would take the other side... |
