Rats Found In Business Class

Sat Oct 19, 2013 12:19 am

Some rats were found aboard an Asian airline in the business class but the airline is denying this allegation. Is it okay for rats to go on business trip? But this is not first time that an airline will be denying that rats are not part of the rat race.

This is exactly why I will not fly two class airlines/aircraft. This would NEVER happen in First Class!

Is this the Jet Airways Disney-branded 738? In that case, its mice, not rats. Micky looks to be about in business class on the fuse...

Being a kommunist, I am not surprised that rats were found in business class. I am convinced that you will even find more in first class, but most of them fly in their private jet...

Says who??

It is very common to find vermin on board planes, and they fly whichever class they like. They are usually found in the vicinity of galleys because of the smell of food.
There have been many incidents of snakes in the cargo hold, and rats in the electronics bay too.

And cockroaches are very frequent fliers in planes, usually planes have a schedule pest control checks, I have had in my planes, cockroaches, mouse, bee nest, snakes, even a small monkey, birds... it's not that unusual, all this animals look for food or shelter.

What's the airline?.... most probably they are d3nying because the rats were all over the plane and not only in business

I didn't see any when I flew it, but then I was slumming it on the back row of cattle class. I don't recall any actual cattle either!

Wonder if she joined the mile high club? Are they FFs?

In all seriousness now, I'm not surprised rats, cockroaches or any other annoying animal/insect has been found on aircraft. If rats can get on a rat free island somewhere via boat then rats can easily get on board and aircraft. Hope the aircraft was totally cleaned afterwards before entering service

I'm guessing it would have to be either Dragonair or Hong Kong Airlines.

Oh, yeah. I used to work with one and her computer login was 'AKLARAT'. She went to the IATA accounting revenue meetings. Last I heard she was working for QF in SYD.

I once had the "pleasure" of sitting next to a fat cow occupying 2 seats., and that was in Business class.

so whats the problem when it was a Chinese carrier? Get the cooks from catering to clean the aircraft from unwanted stowaways.

Really nice to have a thread with some decent humour - I am impressed.
Now to get things going, are these rats unique to Boeing or Airbus, or unlike A.Net members they have no preference?

My roommate in college worked for a pest exterminator in the evenings for extra money and has said this exact thing. Anywhere in a city where you have a potential shelter that is open (pax and cargo doors are usually open while on the ground) critters will get in. You also have tons of food around and trash. It would be surprising not to find rats. Also anyone who has lived in a city will tell you rats are everywhere, they just know how to hide dam well

Pretty careless of the airline if you ask me; those little babies should have been securely nested in the bassinet

Yes, but most of THEM sit on TOP of the seats. These critters appear to be perfect passengers, quiet and undemanding. What have they done to earn comparison to the "other" rats? Have we no mercy?

Vermin are aboard a lot of aircraft and most have the occasional roach. Just as in every restaurant. If the Health Department ever studied an airplane galley you would never eat anything onboard again.

Not sure about the snake thing. I do know of one aircraft that had been damaged and grounded for several months. On its first revenue flight in service a snake crawled out of the economy class overhead. Passengers (and most crew) were NOT amused (it disrupted the movie). A quick thinking purser dumped ice and frozen ice on it and killed it. If there are snakes in the cargo hold then they can find their way anywhere in the aircraft.

Rodents (not necessarily rats) have been known to damage electrical wiring.
