Frontier Airbus In PHL

Thu Oct 24, 2013 11:28 pm

Anyone know why F9 has an Airbus parked on the North Ramp in PHL for several days now? I've seen no real activity around the a/c.

F9 parks their A320 near the de-icers when it's not being used for the Apple Vacations charter flights to CUN and PUJ (and maybe some other place?)

When you say North Ramp, do you mean by the old overseas terminal, across 17/35 from terminal E/F?

With F9 no longer doing PHL-DEN, how do they rotate this plane out?

I see the aircraft scheduled to fly to/from BWI quite a bit.

thats quite a short flight, BWI is often used for weather diversions for PHL though. It happened to me once.

Through CUN or PUJ, or sometimes a short repo to ILG.

FFT21 ops PUJ-BWI-PHL (2x week: Monday and Friday). On Mondays, this plane sits until Friday when it operates flight 20. On Fridays, it serves as the inbound for 19 (ops on Saturdays).
FFT20 ops PHL-BWI-PUJ (2x week: Monday and Friday) On Mondays, this plane has been sitting since Saturday, when it came in as flight 18. On Fridays, this plane has been sitting since Monday, when it came in as flight 21.
FFT18 ops CUN-PHL on Saturdays. This plane then sits at PHL until Monday, when it operates flight 20.
FFT19 ops PHL-CUN on Saturdays. This plane comes into PHL as flight 21 on Fridays.

This seems like a very confusing and inefficient schedule, but I guess the planes are making more money sitting on the ground than they would be if they were flying, which I find pretty sad.

The plane used to ferry to/ from DTW before/ after completing PHL flights for Apple Vacations. Starting in the second week of October, there was a minor schedule change and the plane no longer ferries to/ from DTW. Instead, it sits in PHL for between 30 and 80 hours Monday-Friday before going to CUN or BWI depending on the day of the week and the Apple charter schedule.
