It would be great to buy that one and make it into a restaurant or airport hotel.

Flew her several times with my son. Sad to see her go to the scrapyard.

Ahh Pokemon. I was actually at the age where it was big. Such a great part of my childhood. Never knew this existed, too bad I couldn't have seen it in real life

I was also young when it first came out, but just so you know Pokemon STILL big. The new Pokemon games X and Y just broke all sorts of sales records in Japan and abroad. So I think we can look forward to many more Pokemon Jets in the future. (I know there is already a 777 in Pokemon livery)

Actually pokemon still insanely popular. Pokemon X and Y (the six generation game) is not only the fastest selling Pokemon game, but one of the fastest selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time.

while it would have been cool to get those in a museum that is a huge amount of space and resources to get this exhibit set up for a plane that is not even historically relevant

It was modified into a 744 Domestic model. Winglets are dead weight on short haul Japanese domestic routes.

Correct, the fuel saving don't equal out to the the cost of fuel to lug those winglets around. On a long haul flight, they will save fuel but on a short hop, it just is a deadweight.

It would be nice if they could sell pieces of the plane after they break it up.
Maybe in 1 or 2 inch squares. That is one colorful plane that should be remembered some how.

I must be the only one on here who is distinctly unimpressed by these cartoon planes.

Dear old Pikachu Dreaming finally goes the way of all things - very sad but glad I got to fly her in January to CTS.

Oh come on, you can't possibly be serious. Where would they put her? Have you actually been to Japan? It isn't exactly Arizona in terms of spare land. It's OK to let things return to dust you know. And this is coming from a terrible hoarder - but I thought I was bad having a large record collection in a small apartment, not hanging onto jumbo jets cos they were once painted with a nice livery. Get a 1:400 scale model instead, ANA shops sell a nice one with a stand and a strip of runway tarmac to go with her. Enjoy.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

That new pokemon X/Y game just released sold out in like 15 hours here haha

And is the talk of HND whenever she's at the gate. Photographers always crowd around her getting shots.

She even went to SDJ for a presentation to local kids affected by the tsunami

Well she was again one of the most popular airplanes in the sky. She was featured in so many adverts in Japan too.

Ask Superfly. Whenever an incident comes up, he always says "Alright do away with the plastic planes!"

These domestic 744's sure rack up the cycles! I flew on JA8959 in 2006 and I saw that it was delivered to the scrapper last year. I was on a hop from OKA to HND, in a 744.... for about 40 minutes.

Those things were a treat to see in Haneda, for sure. Always drew a crowd...often times more than the 787s.
