BA Long Haul 763 Mods

Thu Oct 31, 2013 3:55 am

Are the long haul 763's used on international flights equipped with the new seats and larger ptv's in World Traveller and World Traveller Plus or is it only the bins that have been updated to match the 77W?

Hello

The refurbished 767s have the same seats as the old ones however the seats themselves have been refurbished and now have new fabric on them. I believe the PTVs also underwent refurbishment however they are the same size as before.

Ok thk you. So just to clarify, the WTP cabin on the 763's have not been upgraded to match the 77W or modified 777-200ER's? They still have the lighter blue color and small ptv? I was wondering because on BA.com it says the WTP cabins were being upgraded to match the 77W.

Yes just to clarify the traveller and traveller plus seats have not been changed to the 777-300 seats as jetblast has said. They have only been covered in the new fabric to match the 777-300. They do have new carpet, curtains, sidewalls and modified overhead locker doors that are slightly curved out so more bags can fit in them. The IFE hasn't changed at all, still AVOD though.
The Club World seats have been refurbished with new fabric and the outer shell has been replaced with different colours.
Overall it does look fresher but I agree the website is a bit misleading as it isn't really the same as the 777-300

My understanding is different. I believe that before the upgrade all 14 long-haul configured BA 763s were fitted with first generation lie-flat J Class seats. I also understood that the seven aircraft selected for the upgrade, namely G-BNWI, 'WM, 'WS, 'WT, 'WV, 'WW and 'WY, were fitted with a new, slightly modified second generation J Class lie-flat seat. I believe that the seat modification was necessary because of the 763s narrower fuselage compared to the 747 and 777s.

The seven long-haul configured 763s that were not included in the upgrade programme that was initiated in January 2012 were G-BNWC, 'WD, 'WH, 'WN, 'WO, 'WR and 'WU. They were excluded from the upgrade programme as they would be replaced as the 787-8s on order came into service.

The seven refurbished B763s have refurbished and re-upholstered original New Club World seats (as opposed to Next Generation Club World seats on the B747/B777/B787/A380 fleets). These have a cream shell and brown upholstery as opposed to the brown shell and blue upholstery on the seven un-refurbished aircraft. The refurbished seat can be seen here:

Are there any photos of the long haul WT and WTP refurbished cabins anywhere? I saw two of the short haul on airliners.net already.

Dont think so, its just a recover/refurb of the j class seats they've always had

I flew on G-BNWW last week EDI-LHR in the CW cabin. The seats were refreshed in brown cloth but were the same seats that have been on the 767 for many years.

In WT+ and WT it is the same old seats but with the nicer light blue seat coverings. IFE is the same.

Thank you for the photos. All three cabins look like they would be a comfortable ride.
