### Calculating Passenger Yield

Hi, I was trying to calculate the passenger yield of Pegasus. The company generates c.30% of passenger revenue from int'l passengers. The operating currency is EUROs, but the reporting currency is Turkish lira. I was wondering how I should incorporate the fluctuations in currency in my yield calculations?

Thanks.

### RE: Calculating Passenger Yield

If you're referring to Yield per RPK, generally the currency impact is not considered. There should be a seperate item reported as Currency Gain/(Loss), but this is generally minor and would not have a considerable impact on the revenue.

### RE: Calculating Passenger Yield

American Airlines has posted how to calculate and understand basic airline reporting numbers.

Also MIT Airline Data Project also has definition and calculating methodology.

The only additional thing I would do is to stage-length correct the yield if you are comparing Pegasus to other airlines.
This becomes important as otherwise you can be greatly deceived by the numbers.

You can probably Google the formula.

### RE: Calculating Passenger Yield

Thanks, I was actually trying to calculate Yield per RPK in dollar terms. But, dollar/lira has been swingingly late, and I want to eliminate those fluctuations.

Do you guys think it'd be sensible to calculate the yield in lira terms?

### RE: Calculating Passenger Yield

Considering bulk of Pegasus revenues are generated in Lira and Lira is the home currency, I would think Lira would be fine.

Even TK in its annual financial reports uses Lira.
