A suspect has been shot and is in police custody after Friday's shooting at Los Angeles International Airport, a law enforcement source close to the investigation tells CNN's Miguel Marquez.
(CNN) -- A person with a firearm at Los Angeles International Airport approached a checkpoint at Terminal 3 and opened fire Friday morning at a Transportation Security Administration agent, a former Los Angeles Police Department ranking officer who was at the scene told CNN.

just turned on Fox Chicago and the news bulletin is that "dozens" of shots reported fired inside LAX terminal 2 secure area and all flights to LAX are grounded until further notice. There were pictures showing police SWAT team members with what appears to be a rifle on the floor nearby. ALL LAX terminals reportedly evacuated.

At the risk of sounding morbid, outside the security at a large busy airport is probably one of the best (so to speak) locations for a mass shooter seeking the maximum number of victims. Few if any other public places have such dense concentrations of people. I don't see any easy solutions.

And for SURE no one with guns to defend themselves.

NBC reporting TSA agent killed.

That would be interesting if all terminals were evacuated because according to Flightaware there were still planes landing and taking off from almost every other terminal. Also, AA's website flight status has Flight 2421 from DFW having arrived at 1054 PDT (about 10 minutes ago). I wouldn't think anybody (the airlines, the FAA or LAWA) would want planes landing if the pax can't get off because the terminals are all evacuated. Also, did they say it was at T2? Pretty sure we have confirmation that it was T3 (and T3's airlines are the only ones showing no departures or arrivals in the last hour).

To confirm, is this a land side or airside event?
