C'mon now, have some faith

It seems they used the opportunity to integrate more testing along the way. It's fun to follow on fr24... wonder if they managed to scare the crap out of any boaters en route to Bristol.

Hopefully Airbus will provide us with some new video of this little outing

Perhaps but wouldn't it have been closer to fly out over the English east coast over i.e. Grimsby
and over the North sea to approach Bremen from north? And still avoid Dutch airspace?

Or is it now allowed to fly over water for so long distances?

So AIB101 for French/Belgium airspace, AIB102 for UK airspace and AIB103 for German airspace?

Could this be some part the test program, verifying that the transponder and radio works with different ATC regions or some such? But you'd think that is fairly standard components, already certified/tested...

Very poignant. Two days ago was the tenth anniversary of the last ever flight of Concorde when G-BOAF touched down at Filton and that great symbol of European cooperation became the past.

Today however, Filton witnessed the future.

I saw her pass over XFW today - she is truly amazingly quiet. Admittedly, I have never seen/heard the 787, which must be in the same ballpark. These new aircraft are going to set a whole new standard in noise. The A350 today made the preceding A320 into XFW look bad - not just in relative aircraft size terms, but in absolute noise levels (and I realize noise is subjective, but the A350's low noise level was just too obvious not to notice). And I note that the area around XFW is rather quiet - suburbs and countryside, unlike the more heavily urbanized area around TLS.

Also, although not Northern Europe proper, Bremen and Hamburg isn't that far from the Danish border.

RE: A350 Test Flight Official Thread Part 9

Fri Nov 29, 2013 10:05 am

Just a daily thought about the job here. I am now lucky enough to have changed office and now sit in the middle of the test flight center of both Airbus/ATR parking lots for the aircraft.

Before I could park this morning, MSN 003 was being pushed back from the adjacent weighting hangar. I had to stop my car as aircraft in movement have priority / right of way.

The left wingtip just passed breifly over me then. Once I could move forward and leave my car, I expected the aircraft to be towed back to the flight test center, but no, they lined it up towards the runway, and de-towed it. The pilots were actually already on board, and they started ENG1 and then ENG2.

The aircraft was sitting 50 meters from us. Just then, the air was filled with TrentXWB noises and Jet fuel in a lovely morning with clear blue sky and cold crisp temperatures.

This is what made me realize just then why I come in the office every morning.
No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.
