What is the schedule (# / month or year) for the new winglets?

I think we're overdue for a summary table!

Showing # 814 in SEA for Induction.

Also, N37277 is getting her Scimitars installed. The new Scimitars are or will be rebuilt from the old Blended Winglets. New End Cap, new Ventral Strake with mount bracket, re-skinned, LED lights installed in the Scimitar. Position, Tail and Blinking Strobe are all LEDs now. Talking with the APB guys, about $500,000 for a set of two to be reworked. Will be able to CDL them, just have to remove the other one too.

Is this project still taking place? Last time it was discussed, I strongly defended UA for refreshing the birds, but at the rate they're leaving, I'd be surprised if they continued.

B752 (111/111)[sCO 41, sUA 70] - B753 (sCO 21/21)

Is that number still accurate? Or has UA parked more 757-222s since then?

Quoting CALTECH (Reply 208):

That's a big plus; will they have to put the standard wingtip devices back on, as we do now with the blended winglet CDL?
Because it defeats the purpose of being able to CDL them if you DON'T stock the original flat wingtip pieces!!
But I'm betting it's the same setup, given it's just a modified blended winglet.
How nice, you're going to all LED's... I wish we would!

Meant the Winglet Ventral Strake, the new downward pointing part of the winglet. Hope people stay aware that it's out there on the tip, 'cause it is bigger than first thought.

Parking 1-4 birds every month, or actually, most of them this year are going to FedEx.

Roger that; being able to CDL just the down-hangy-thingy will come in very handy, many times, I predict.

Bummer. While I was always partial to your superbly-maintained CO 757-224s, I've come to appreciate the quietness of United's Pratt-powered fleet. Even if the cabins ARE falling apart, lol.
That, and the seats are much more comfortable over at UA.

Does anyone know what's going on with UA's Micronesian operation? It looks like a second 738, N36247 is headed to GUM via MAJ, 6852/18Feb.
Are these loner aircraft while work is done, or will they be swapped with current GUM aircraft, o that GUM gets the standard configuration?

The fleet site will not receive updates for a few days as I'll be out of reach. Expect N212UA to exit SFO any day now in Hawaiian config and expect N210UA to head to mod. Besides some Airbuses getting seats/WiFi and maybe 744/763 paint action, don't expect much else.

There is a 737 in for a C4Ck in PEK, # 0720. Might have something to do with it.

SEA is a MX outstation for United.

"Boeing is currently flight-testing the 787-9. United expects to take delivery of United's first one in July. United is the North American launch customer for the 787-8, 787-9 and 787-10. The 787-10 is a stretched version of the -9 that United expects to begin flying in 2018. United is currently the only U.S. airline operating the 787, with nine in service and orders for 56 more."

You won't see them, they are being delivered to SEA, instead of BFI.

Looks like N14219 is on the way to VCV and N21723 is coming out.

I see 3478 is in Moses Lake. I'm assuming it's there for testing on the Scimitars for the 900ER's.

Where the hell do they park them? The cargo pad normally has room for 1, maybe 2 planes at most in SEA. Are they renting space for DL - or they must be parking some of them down in the FedEx corridor.

Anyone know what the true configuration of the 789s will be? The LAX-MEL press release stated 48C/63W141Y but the seat map when you try to book LAX-MEL shows 48C/88W116Y. The second one makes more sense to me, it would have more seats in every class than the 788 and would also make the numbers similar to pmCO and pmUA 777s:

36C/70W113Y- 788
50C/72W145Y- pmCO 777
8F/40C/110W108Y- pmUA 777

I guess they plan on having less than 49 788's. With orders and options I believe it showing a total of 54. I know options can be used on any series.

Which begs the question - what range of registration numbers will be used for the 787-10s? Nxx8xx?

Nxx8xx are the newer 739ERs, up to 849 anyway. Nxx3xx, Nxx6xx, and Nxx15x sequences are open. For the 739ER sequences 479-499 and 880-899 might get used as well.

Methinks at some point the old CO way of numbering is going to have to get modified. Start going to NxxxUA (as the PW 757s start leaving those regs should be available) or go to NxxxUC/NxxxUL or similar.

N3xxUA and N9xxUA should also be available (since the old sUA 737s left), and almost all of the N6xxUA range (especially once the 3-class 767s go).

But as with everything else, I have doubts this will change. I guess we'll find out with the A350s or maybe the 737MAX.

It seems like there is a never-ending stream of UA aircraft rotating thru various maintenance centers and that's a lot of lift sitting indoors. Is this normal for a carrier of this size or is some/lot of this related to the merger integration yet...paint/seats/bins/ wi-fi etc?

At what point can UA get back to keeping more planes in revenue service and out of the retrofit shops or is this work being done in tandem with other required work?

When an airline has a combined fleet of nearly a thousand airplanes, yes, it's normal. I forget the number, but someone once posted that at any given hour, United has something like 100 airplanes out of service in maintenance, either scheduled or unscheduled. That's not the right number, but the number is definitely staggering.
People today forget that running an airplane safely is a labor-intensive prospect...

Well, the bulk of the widebody mods are done, with only the Hawaiian market 777 projects remaining.
And the narrowbody mods are all about saving cash and increasing revenue - they're putting MORE SEATS in everything.
