Hey friends.

Just came across an article claiming that TK has selected an american company's inflight entertainment system to be fitted on 2 of their A330s.

Anybody who has more information on which frames and what exactly this agreement is covering?

Aviation Daily had a little profile on Pegasus last week.

One of the things they look at was the carriers network and largest stations. Carrier has seen rapid growth year over year with 28.8% in number of departures and 35.5% growth in ASK's.

Below is their largest stations based on number of weekly departures, and their annual market growth rate:

1. Sabiha Gokcen - 814 - +38.4%
2. Izmir - 189 - +14.3%
3. Ankara - 113 - +1.3%
4. Adana - 106 - +21.9%
5. Antalya - 77 - 40.3%
6. Ercan - 75 - +4.0%
7. Trabzon - 45 - +11.0%
8. Kayseri - 33 - +27.6%
9. Gaziantep - 28 - +8.5%
10. Elazig - 17 - +20.6%

I heard that TK is keen on making the IST-BKK a twice daily flight instead of a daily flight and a 3 weekly second flight.
Does anybody know if this going to happen in the near future now they are receiving more planes.
I'm using this route few times a month and in most of the cases the plane (business class) is 100% full.

I thought the new Boston service was going to be on a A330-300 but someone said they switched it to the A340. Did they?

I think us spotters in the Boston area would like to see the A340; we have enough A330s thank you very much!

Yes its switched but others on here have mentioned that BOS will see all of TK's longhaul fleet at some point

LH throws the A340 on BOS-FRA/MUC at times too and I flew it on VS (BOS-LHR) in 2012.

Seems like TK is planning to lease another 8 widebody aircraft as has been released by an announcement to the istanbul stock exchange.

5 A330s from an Irish leasing company and another three of the same type from Jet Airways.

Quite interesting move considering the earlier announcement of 3 leases of A330s from ILFC. The deal comprised three ex gulf airlines aircraft of which only one has been delivered so far.

Will be interesting to see whether they will cancel the other agreement or whether this will be on top of them.

Hi people
I need one small suggestion from the turkish people. I booked yesterday morning for 23 january from antalya to istanbul with atlasjet but even the booking seems to be ok at the end, they asked for credit card details, i still have receive no confirmation and not credit card charge has been done. The mail i send them has no answer. Should i been worried?

TK will receive 15 Airbusses next year. 5 are the 300s which were ordered quite some time ago.
On top of that we will see 2 A332 from ILFC, 5 from AerCap 3 A332 from Jet Airways.

Does anybody now the configuration of the Jet birds in general? Inflight entertainment etc? Was it already known which ones were to be leased to Kuwait Airlines?
It could well be that the AerCap planes are brand new birds, since they still have 10 200s on order.

According to the news article on Hürriyet, Hamdi Topçu pointed out few things:
1. 2 77Ws will be delivered in 2014 instead of 2015. Maybe they secured some early delivery slots not used by someone else?
2. San Francisco is mentioned as the next point in the US. I believe this puts a temporary end to Miami, San Francisco, Atlanta... debate
3. TK is weakest in South America. They will open new routes subject to aircraft availability.
4. IST CIP lounge will expand.
5. Lease of 10 aircraft is mentioned. (5 Irish+3 Jet=8) So are there two more that are unannounced or they are the 2 ex-Gulf ones still not delivered.
And some other details about Africa, the strike etc.

Exactly, 2 are coming from ILFC. I got in touch with Lumexis, the company of whose link I shared earlier and they stated that they will refurbish 2 A332 with Ptv for TK within Q1 2014. I hope these are the ex Gulf frames.

That means we are going to get 20 new WB frames in 2014. 5 A330 303, 5 B777 and 10 leased A332. Considering that the JET B777s might leave around July and the A343 TC JDN that might be scrapped we still have 16 additional frames.

So apart from the recent expansion into Canada and Korea, TK might increase Japan service to Nagoya for instance or Haneda. Turkey also just signed new air service agreements with Malaysia allowing up to 14 frequencies per week. TK is just utilizing 4 to KUL at the moment. Also South Africa granted additional rights to Durban, Port Elisabeth, Johannesburg and Cape Town and Sri Lanka allowed up to 14 weekly and Namibia 7 weekly services. Sudan even signed open skies with Turkey where a double daily to offer west and east bound connections could come soon. San Fransisco might also come very soon.

Finally Qatar were granted 28 weekly rights. So further expansion of ME3 into Turkey are coming. QR just announced SAW service and might maybe some time also launch ADB. The UAE's demand for further rights were rejected from the turkish side. Interesting move taking into account that a huge multi billion dollar privatisation of reactors could not be finalized between them due to rising political issues in the egyptian and syrian matter.

I believe after the additions of 2 new destinations in Africa now TK becomes the airline who has more destinations in Africa (36). I checked AF has 34, and AF-KL 44.

AC changed schedule on their YYZ-IST-YYZ flights. Departing IST at 10.55 AM instead of 2.45PM.
I was booked on IST-YYZ-DTW with a 2 hours layover in YYZ, I now have a 6 hours layover...

Turkey-Mexico have signed a air service agreement. This paves way for TK service.
Turkey however is still awaiting authority from Cuba to link the two markets on a single flight.

In other Latin America news, at the 1-year anniversary party of Buenos Aires service, it was mentioned the route is doing well and TK is seeking to de-link from the GRU and operate a nonstop as soon as more 777 become available.

Remember earlier in 2013, Turkey-Russia signed a new expanded bilateral. This is what allowed Transaero and Pegasus to begin scheduled service between the nations.

As part of the agreement each side was allowed 61 additional weekly frequencies and provides rights for Turkish service to Samara, Makhachkala, Mineralniye Vody, Nizhniy Novgorod, Nalchik, Vladikavkaz, Chelyabinsk, while Russian carriers gain service rights to Samsun, Nevsehir and Gaziantep.

Turkey-Israel have agreed on a security agreement which will allow Israeli airlines to return to Turkey in 2014.

CEO of Israeli charter Arkia says its hopping to operate flights starting in the spring while Israir and El Al also might be back for next summer.

Agreement comes after Israeli airlines strongly lobbied their government to impose restrictions on Turkish carriers serving Israel as retaliation for Turkey's refusal to allow Israeli carriers to employ special security procedures on the ground in Turkey.
