Big Allegiant News Tomorrow, 12/10/2013

Tue Dec 10, 2013 12:54 am

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb....156118.53960272605&type=1&theater

More new cities from PIE and/or SFB?
Eastbound LAS expansion?
Even more flights at PGD and/or AZA?
Connecting the dots?
A mix?

Let the guessing games begin...

(On a possibly related note, the Allegiant A319 cover photo is back on the FWA Facebook page after a hiatus of a month. Sign of things to come?)

Well somebody on the facebook post mentioned Clarcksville, WV so that's on my list.

How about something crazy like announcing service from Atlanta? Well Silver Comet Field outside of Dallas, GA (About 40 miles NW of Atlanta.). G4 is the airline most folks seem to think will fly into the airport once it it ready for commercial service next year.

G4 recently moved at LAS from D Gates to A Gates. That could give them more gates for expansion if gate constraints were stopping expansion here.

Two things were stopping G4's expansion at LAS: gate space and terminal fees.

As for the latter: When T3 opened, the fees to use LAS went through the roof, much like how the new terminals at airports like SMF, IND, and SJC caused similar increases. IIRC, G4 placed a moratorium on new flights from LAS (I think the last new route ex-LAS was PBG) when they were still on D and around the time T3 opened - hence the rapid expansion from AZA for western flying.

The gate issues at LAS have been resolved with the move to A, while the fees will slow down G4's LAS growth from past levels considerably. As one G4 exec said to the Vegas media, they will still grow in LAS - just slower.

As long as we are throwing crap against the wall and seeing what sticks, I say G4 is starting TTN-SFB service.

Branson BKG service replacement for the loss of WN.
That is my guess.

G4 already serves nearby SGF, but I don't think a move to BKG is out of the question - remember, G4 loves incentives.

G4 is not afraid to switch or resume airports:
-from LAN to GRR (then added LAN back to the network)
-LNK to GRI
-SPI to PIA (then resumed SPI service)
-move some Orlando flights from SFB to MCO in response to FL, then move them back to SFB
-start BLV, leave in the final days of the AA hub at STL, then return
-start SWF, leave because of B6 and SX, then return
-start PSM, pull out due to poor ancillary sales, then return

G4 has loaded in their initial MYR schedule for summer 2014, and the flights and packages can be booked now for travel starting in May.

Same four cities as 2013: ABE, FWA, HTS, and YNG.

G4 started SPI-LAS in 2007 as a counter (with CMI-LAS) to FL's BMI-LAS route. The spike in fuel prices killed that. G4 resumed SPI in November 2012 with service to PDG, then SFB just last month.

G4 began PIA service in March 2004, and has continued to serve it without interruption.

If I were to guess new routes, I'd say SPI-LAS. I know SPI officials have discussed it with them. But limitations at LAS noted above make me think this will have to wait awhile.

MGM-Florida?

I've heard from a source they are ramping up operations out of PGD a tenfold from what they are doing now. They've increased their ramp size quite a bit to handle more aircraft.

Buying out Falcon Air Express. According to Flight Aware they seemed to have used their MD80's for some flights recently.

Omg Why is it when G4 announces a new route it's "big news?"

Last I heard they are quite fickle with routings, so they could probably change their minds real fast on these new routes.

Not really, but a lot more so than other major US airlines. If G4 doesn't get enough people in the seats or (more importantly) enough ancillary revenue from a flight, they'll drop it.

For most cities that see Allegiant service, any airline willing to fly mainline sized aircraft to the local airport is big news.

If that is the big news that would be right up there with DFW's big announcement about the ballet company traveling.

Usually, if it is a new city, the airport will actually advertise it as a big announcement themselves prior to naming the carrier. That being said, you wonder what is going on. This will be a fun one to watch for.

My ex is a FA for them. I wish they flew into Erie, PA. (KERI) Youngstown is the closest that they get. I think the Erie market would be good for at least one flight per week.

Ohh I would hope for more service to FWA. As I live 3 miles from PIE, and my parents live 4 miles from FWA. Haven't flown them yet (just moved down here from ATL), but like that they are there and like that FWA has service beyond the closest hubs.

What I am really hoping for is PIE-ICT - as that is where the wife's family is and the only market in the area that we don't have direct service to in the family. (FWA = G4, WN = DEN). We could go TPA via MCI on WN but the MCI drive to the farm is a lot farther than the ICT drive.

With their vacation package and hotel package deals, one of these days they are going to bite the high cost bullet and do NYC with LGA or JFK, even with high cost and slots. They can make it up in fares and the hotel ancillary revenue will be significantly higher than existing markets.
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!
