And with this flight MSN3 passed the 250 hours block time

At the same time MSN1 just passed 500 hours and the program 750 hours!
10, 20 and 30% of the planned test time respectively...

//Edit: Just had a look at the date, today is exactly 6 months since the First flight on June 14th  champagne   Smile We've seen some great progress and looking at the amount of flying both aircraft do almost no problems were encountered...

Question: when will Airbus start flying the A350XWB prototypes on really long flights like TLS to somewhere in the USA or TLS to eastern Asia?

That will probably involve a Cabin equipped aircraft like MSN2 or MSN5, set to fly end of February 2014 and sometime in May 2014...

MSN5 is slated for "Route Proving" and will go around the world, but I won't exclude MSN2 for some "early long flights"

So even on Sunday they are going at it with the flight testing program. As if they are in a hurry. Or will they take a break around Christmas and New Years so they are working in advance to make up for the time lost?

Perhaps we are dealing with a crew that need to know the airport before doing crosswind testing on a day with more wind??

For serious crosswind testing they usually come to Keflavik Iceland.

It is very interesting as we can visualise what the aerodynamic tweaking could have been about on the A350, especially the seals at the inner flap /outer flap / drooped aileron discontinuities.
What we can see :
1/- A visual rendering of the overwing depression, hence the lift pattern,
2/- That every gap sees a vortex onset (between the flaps end the aileron )
3/- That somehow the flap fairings have an adverse effect on lift
4/- That the raked wingtips still generate a tip vortex, confirming that their design goes more toward typical cruising speeds / Mach numbers.

I seem to remember that a few weeks ago, there were similar pics on the A350 prototypes and it would be very interesting to have them here again for comparison.
Maybe Karel could help with his frriends from Flicker ?

Very nice cockpit. Just as roomy as an A320?

It looks definitely more spacious then the narrow B737 cockpit, which of course also has the huge disadvantage of the yoke in front of the pilots and the lack of tray-tables which can be easily stored.  . But maybe the picture is misleading in how spacious the cockpit is?
