What's Going On With Sky King?

Sat Jan 11, 2014 12:45 pm

I was reading in my Facebook Miami photographer's group that they lost Cuba flying . Wikipedia says they have 2 737-400's ,with one grounded. Shame. I remember when they used to to almost monthly charters to ACY with their 2 737-200's . N251TR and the old Hooters orange one. Looks like thier Cuba flying has been taken over by National's 757's . Kind of overkill for such a short flight, but I'm sure they have a lot of cargo.

No only cargo , but a lot of passenger demand too, especially in the summer and the end of the year holidays. Just today, a normal day on the MIA-Cuba flights there are 7 MIA-HAV , 2 MIA-CMW, 1 MIA-SCU, 2 MIA-CFG, 1 MIA HOG, 2 MIA-SNU , flown by FALCONAIr, National, SkyKing, World Atlantic, Sun County and American. For a total of 15 flights between MIA and Cuba.

Does anyone know what ever happened to their B737-200s N249TR and N251TR?

Where is N773AS (734) currently stored?

An interesting article that explains the USA-Cuba traffic

http://www.bradenton.com/2014/01/06/...charter-business-consolidates.html

And this other one mentions the entrance of NationAir to the Cuba charter market

N251TR has the distinct honor of being (so far) the last 737-200 to come to ROC. Shame ,we used to get SGB all the time to ACY. I even tried to figure out how to book a flight to ACY on one .

I believe when SkyKing lost their contract in ACY , those birds were flown to the desert. 773AS I am not sure of.. I don't know if they owned that one or if it possibly went back to Xtra?

NationAir

Goodness, I thought Nations Air was back... then I saw it was National Airlines

Airfleets lists it as being stored (no location given) as of 1/2014.

Those were probably "Total Rewards Air" charters bookable through Caesars Entertainment's Total Rewards players club. For some reason G4 didn't have the Atlantic City charter program, but had the Laughlin, Tunica, and Biloxi ones prior to Republic taking over the charter contracts.

Flightaware shows it was last flown on 1/7/14 from OKC to VCV

I was wondering what their 757 was doing at the E satellite the other day. Does anyone know who does their ground handling?
