Dear all,

Came across this,

Air Europa, Spanish airline have suspended sale of airtickets in Boliver in Venezuela. Apparently people in Venezuela are not able to buy air tickets in their own currency. They can buy tickets in $ or Euro but not in Boliver.

I got this news on linkedin aviation forum, here are couple of other links.

Thanks.

And Air Europa is way down the list of airlines owed….AA, UA and CM are owed hundreds of millions. Somebody in another thread posted the actual list.

Hello all readers: I will start by saying that Air Europa is selling tickets the normal way. It's true they stop for a while but the general manager in CCS came on the news saying everything is back to normal. AA have more restrictions, we can only buy tickets for the following month I.e. January now reservations available only next month (February) and so on. The reason for this is Venezuelan government owes a lot of money to all the carriers that operates in Venezuela and they don't have dollars to cover the debt.

There's already a current thread on this issue:

IATA: USD $3.3bil Cash Trapped In Venezuela (by LAXintl Jan 10 2014 in Civil Aviation)

I suggest this one should be deleted.
