It's cute...but the girl seems to have a problem saying "EXIT". Also, it's "BAG" and not "beg".

Hmm, I'l file this one under 'trying way too hard.' I really enjoy when corporations have a sense of humor, but this just really misses the mark somehow. I do commend them for at least trying something fun, but compared to NZ and VX, this is just too flat.

I think it's nice to see we are "mixing it up" more often then we use to.
That way if you don't care for it, it won't be around for a few years like it use to.

At NWA in the mid-late 1990s we changed the introduction to the safety video (but not the actual body of the video) on a monthly basis for the same reason. (In spite of the fact that IFE was take off most of the domestic flights.)

This is Delta's first safety video since the new electronic regs below 10,000 ft, hence the new video.

Now remember he's Roger Murdock . . . an airline pilot.
What is it? It's A 747-400, but that's not important right now.

The change in rules for use of on board electronic devices necessitated this update, so might as well have fun and keep people paying attention with a new version of the briefing.

I wouldn't be surprised if people used to dress like that onboard Delta's aircraft considering how old they are.

Like that video but for some reason I always liked this classic from the early 2000's. Reminds me of my first ever Delta flight from Savannah to Atlanta in late 2004 (a/c was a 757 but was in the style of this video)

In my opinion "Rhapsody in Blue" compensates for it.

Good try by DL. Being Indian, I can picture a 75-year-old Sari-clad Indian lady boarding a DL plane in BOM, watching this safety video, and wondering, "this is how people dress in America?"

I'm the last person to bring people down from a party but...a 5:20 plus running time?!?!? Come on Delta! If you fly 5-8 times a month like me, it's painful after the second time. And some may scoff but I've been on enough flights where the taxi time has to be extended to play the whole darn safety video. And to think Flight Ops is still trying to speed up taxi times. Funny.

I kind of raised my eyebrows when I saw the 5:20 run time when the video started, and yeah, it could have probably been edited a bit more tightly, but still, this was a wonderfully creative video and I give DL an A+ for effort on this one.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the FA is originally from Philadelphia. Classic Philly pronunciation of the letter "a."

No, she has a number of features that point to the Upper Midwest dialect and Norther Cities Vowel Shift, among them:
- the bag/beg sound (the raising of the [æ] before the velar [g])
- the sound in "on" (1:14) (fronting of /ɑ/ -> /æ/, consistent with NCVS; if she were from Philly, this would be expected to be /ɔ/)
- a different sound in the "un" of unexpected (2:02) (backing of /ʌ/ -> /ɔ/, consistent with the NCVS)
- a sound in "open" consistent with the Midwest (3:12) (/oʊ/, versus the shift to /əʊ/ common in the Midatlantic dialects, including Philly)
- the pronunciation of the vowel in water (3:37) is inconsistent with the Midatlantic dialect (Midatlantic speakers would be expected to produce /ʊ/ versus /a/)

Not to mention, she's a Delta FA...if we're betting whether a Delta FA is from Minnesota or Philly, my money is on Minnesota.

LOL, Kareem Abdul Jabbar hit mandatory retirement age 65 on April 16, 2012 so he's flying illegally!! That was a pretty neat touch having him in there, though. The rest of it just seemed kind of forced and not all that amusing, full of obscure and awkward references. I mean a Teddy Ruxpin doll? People under 30 and over 40 are going to have no clue what that is, and just think its a creepy talking teddy bear (which is exactly what it is).
