you heard the military escort(s) as the plane was on short final.....seems like there was at least one fighter plane following the 767.

Obviously this is not shown on flightradar24. No military activity is !

an EasyJet Swiss flight i believe (i heard the callsign "topswiss") was asking if he can expect more delays. ATC said airport is closed.

same thing was just asked and answered in english by another flight.

For a 767, 30 minutes worth of holding fuel is about 2000kgs. Looking at the timeline, they must have landed with less than 100 kilos in the tanks. Insane.

I'm guessing the pilot exaggerated the fuel situation given that, according to FR24, it's been taxing for quite a while already. Presumably under own power.

I would deem it more likely that FR24 is just messing up. But, then again, the pilot must have been in quite a hurry to put that plane on the ground, so he could have said that to speed things up with the authorities.

I don't know really anything at all about this whole thing other than browsing this thread for a minute or two, but taxi burn is NOTHING compared to the rate at which fuel is burned in flight. Waaaay less burn on the ground especially single engine even doubly so of course.

Mateo, FR24 keeps showing the plane as "moving around" still cause some ADS-B boxes and their feeds online keep the plane moving as it still is on ground and maybe parked. Check the track against the satellite image and you will see it makes more sense. According to Liveatc the aicraft stopped at the end of the runway and the pilots exited the flight deck via the windows.

Maybe the highjacker was not let in the cockpit as why would the pilots exit the plane if they will be needed for an eventual departure again depending on the highjacker's demands.

Still lots of unanswered questions, but at least everyone is presumably safe and the situation is in the hands of negotiators. I tuned to local FM stations in Geneva but no info. I think we will get more info only from the authorities at some point. The pilots could offer good intel in debriefs as well. Hoping and praying for safe closure to this sad episode.

Does hijacking a plane for asylum ever work? I think it worked in Cuba a couple times and it almost worked with a tanker in the Mediterranean.

As the pilots seemed to jump out the window do we think the hijacker was in the cabin and didn't get through the door? I know they reinforced those doors but I have to think that a beverage cart and a couple guys with an extra hour on their hands could do it.

What gets me though is the pilot. He didn't communicate alarm and yet seemed to be very interested in getting the asylum and if we assume it wasn't for him then why was he so motivated to go to Geneva? Anyway, more questions than answers but I thought I would throw it out there.

Still can't find if they were able to evacuate the plane at this point.
