AA 737 With New IFE

Mon Feb 17, 2014 9:09 pm

Does anyone have or know if there are any interior photos out there of the most recent AA 737s that have been delivered with the new cain/IFE? I've searched extensively with no luck.

I noticed some pics today on seatguru submitted by users. Look up AA 737-800 and there are a few but not too much detail. I only notice the over-wing window exits making it distinctly different from the A319s.

What is the configuration of the 737-800 fleet these days? I've read a few different ones... ?

First: 16
MCE: 48
Economy: 86

That seems to be correct for now. There are actually 90 economy seats, but 4 (16B/E and 17B/E) are blocked off to bring the capacity down to 150 and negate the need for a 4th flight attendants. A.net and FlyerTalk have been reporting that AA plans to add more seats to the 737 fleet, so we'll probably see capacity go back up to 160 or so.

Will that be by reducing the number of MCE seats, reducing the number of F seats, or somehow making Y even tighter?

I flew the AA 738 with IFE and power ports at every seat this past Sunday SEA-DFW, the redeye AA 1230.
The pilot said welcome to our brand new plane. I've never been on such a new plane!

Every passenger was even careful to not make a mess. Too bad with strong tailwinds the usual 4:00 flight was only 2:40!
Got in way too early to DFW.

The interior, the IFE, and sky lighting was superb. Too bad AA surly grandmas were the F/As...

I know somewhere on here it said that these aircraft were being subfleeted, Does anyone know which routes they are assigned to, if they are in fact a set subfleet of 738s?

Here it is...looks identical to the 319's interior, plus the Boeing Sky Interior.

Why don't they remove four seats instead of blocked them off???
It will allow to transform 4 of the "normall" economy seats into "Preferred seat" (no seat in front of you)
(with additional charge or to top-tier member)

I believe they start with N939NN, and continue up, at present, to N945NN.

And if anyone is into nose numbers, the AVOD birds start at 3LC. Anything alphabetically following that will have the new interior with AVOD.
