Qantas At LAX Question

Thu Feb 27, 2014 7:07 am

I notice Qantas' airplanes sit around all day at LAX. Why is that? Isn't there anything better that they could be doing? Seems very inefficient.

This question has been answered in multiple threads.
Their flights arrive in the morning and to maximise connections to Australia they depart in the evening. During the day they receive maintenance in LAX. 1 aircraft operates a return service to JFK. These are long haul aircraft so operating them on short haul routes isn't very efficient. Also they don't want them getting stuck on the East Coast/North etc due to weather etc when most of their passengers are O&D in California.
