Tiara Air Appears To Be Shutdown.

Tiara Air website is down and sources tell me that Aruba Civil Aviation Authorities have revoked the AOC certificate to the airline. All flights cancelled and fleet grounded. It also appears booking from Sabre is also wiped out.

Speculation is that their cash flow have been adversely effected by the situation in Venezuela.

Very sad news, especially as Tiara Air was one of the last, or even the last?, pax operator of the SHORTS 360.

Sad to hear. Glad I caught a good shot of their only 737 last year @ FLL.

my god, they should have been shut down for that Shorts 360 livery alone ... they managed to make that plane even MORE HIDEOUS!

This just happened last Thursday. Shamefully the Tiara demise is alike DAE. Large exposure to the Venezuelan market with a lenghty delay in the repatriation of incomes in USD for paying debts.

Insel is also coping with this situation, however they are in a better financial shape with a stronger network and not so dependent on the Venezuelan travel market.

Newhaven, if you click on the aircraft's registration you will like see the current which in my opinion is much nicer.

I mentioned in another thread that these guys were going down because of the situation in Venezuela.
Officially, as of last week, they were no longer operating at FLL and their remaining passengers were rebooked on other airlines.
They couldn't get their new 737s, pay the FLL landing/lease fees, pay their ground handlers at FLL, pay Falcon Air for operating their flights when their 737 was down. They had numerous delays and cancellations and finally reduced flights into FLL significantly before they pulled the plug.

I think Freedom Air still operates a 360 out of GUM?

Today Maracaibo - Aruba (MAR - AUA) flight departed on time. It looks like they got their AOC back.
