Boeing receives order for additional 50 737s this week from undisclosed customer. No mention whether these frames are MAX or NG. Guessing it's another Chinese order.

Apparently American Airlines has converted 30 A321neo into A321ceo aircraft (was previously reported as an conversion into options).

Re the AA conversion - I can only surmise that they want the frames earlier.

I haven't been keeping an eye on the ceo backlog vis a vis the change over period but perhaps this also offers Airbus the flexibility to allow a few to convert the other way.

I'm guessing (as mentioned already) that this is something to do with AA as they keep doing whacky things with orders and cancellatoins with orders being logged then converted to orders by lessors etc.

Alright, the April order book can be explained as follows:

> AA cancels 30x A321neo (-30)
> AA orders 30x A321ceo (+30)
> AA orders 34x A321ceo (+34)
> AA orders 7x A319ceo (+7)
> Private A320 order (+1)
> ILFC has canceled 9x A321ceo (-9)
> Singapore orders 6x A330 tanker (+6)

The AA orders would have come via lessors; AA will now buy instead of lease those aircraft. The airline still has 100 A321neo on order.

I would hope so, but I am not so sure. Like we all have "felt coming" for some time now about these amazing years with firm orders things might start to slow down.

A few points they share with us:
* The firm order backlog in 2014 is 58% of current in-service fleet (vs 20% in 2004).
* The firm order backlog in 2014 is equivalent to the size of the global fleet in in 1994 (valued $848 B)

But I really hope that Farnbrough gives us another boost?
Anyone knows of any anticipated orders for 2014?

I guess we will see Emirates and Qatar firming their 777X order at Farnborough. This will boost the Boeing order book significantly. For Airbus, I don't know. Perhaps a large A330neo order if they launch it.

We may also expect the Delta Airlines widebody order towards the end of the year.

I was wondering if they had some 350 orders to get close to the 1,000 pre EIS backlog.

But I do agree with the article in that there does appear to be an unsustainable backlog.

Virgin Atlantic is expressing interest in ordering the 787-10. With Sir Branson expressing interest for the Virgin Atlantic brand and the Delta (minority owner) RFP being handled right now, I wonder if they could negotiate a killer deal on some 787-10's??

This thread is supposed to be about actual sales, cancellations, options as reported by the manufacturers and airlines. It's a bloody pain to find it filled with unsubstantiated rumors and speculations.. and all the other off topic stuff that seems to be allowed.

It was nice when if there was a post, it was factual. Can we go back to actuals and put all the rumors/guessing/and philosophizing in their own threads?

The 50 UFO's from a couple of weeks ago does indeed appear to be Shandong. That or someone else ordered exactly 34 MAX's and 16 NG's.

Boeing, ILFC announce new 787 operator Neos
Boeing and International Lease Finance Corporation announced that two 787-8 Dreamliners will be leased by ILFC to the Italian carrier Neos. Based at Milan Malpensa Airport in northern Italy, Neos will become the country's first 787 operator when it takes delivery of the airplane in 2018.

9 Air a new Chinese carrier based in Guangzhou have made a commitment for 50 737NG and 737MAX, no breakdown provided on the mix. The order will be posted on the O&D website once all the contingencies have been cleared according to Boeing.

The other interesting part of that press release is:

"The 737 MAX also has commitments for more than 250 additional airplanes."

That is 140+ more commitments then listed on the "pdxlight" website. And that would bring the total firm & commitments orders to 2260+....
