Another New PanAm Start-up(?)

Tue Apr 08, 2014 3:36 am

Not making this one up, I saw on Facebook that there maybe a new PA in the works. I can't post a link because I'm on my phobe ,but look up "Pan American Airways Global USA" (without the quotation marks).

IMO their livery on the 777 isn't half bad.
When wasn't America great?

1st, she look beautiful
2nd, I agree. perhaps they should focus on international route and then and only if, consider any domestic route. perhaps domestic routes that are guarantee to make profit.

I'm sure it will be a rousing success. Starting up a global airline for scratch in this environment? What possibly could go wrong. Luckily, there's a template what with the succeses of PeoplExpress, California Pacific, Skybus, and the new Eastern.

You mean some overenthusiastic fanboy starting his very own fantasy airline?

I will believe this when and only when I complete my first round trip leg on the new PA.

I saw the picture too on Facebook and my thoughts were that some one was playing a game of how the original PA might look like now in terms of equipment and livery had it survived.

If it really is a new start up, I wish them luck, but I have my doubts.

That livery, reality or fantasy, looks really good IMO!

I thought Guilford still own the rights to the name... Isn't the logo on their train somewhere?

They do, and they make a regular habit of dragging it through the mud (only sometimes literally).

There won't be a new Pan Am until Guilford transportation sells the name which they own. I doubt this is real and I think that when you "find" things on the internet, you have to take it with a tonne of salt.

Must admit that this fantasy livery looks a whole lot better than recent re-branding efforts that marketing firms were paid big bucks to slap together (and that list has a lot more than just AA on it).

More wishful thinking. Every few months or so, something like this comes up again, and we all sit back and say 'let Pan Am rest in peace.' That will never happen either. It is precisely because we hold the memory of Pan Am so high that it will continue coming up like this every so often. No company is too big to fail, but some brand names ARE too big to let lie. It would be like asking movie producers never to make another Star Trek or James Bond movie. If Coca Cola went out of business, how many efforts do you think we would see to bring it back within a couple of years?

Some people will always be able to let Pan Am go. Some people never will. Ironically, the only way to bring an end to all these efforts is probably for one of them to succeed somehow.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm on the phone with Delta right now. I'm trying to buy the rights to Western Airlines.

According to the wiki Pan Am article, Pan Am Airways Global was created in 2012. At least at that time, it says they planned both domestic and international flights. That was 2 years ago....

I know you are kidding, but Delta does not own the trademark Western Airlines, the trademark is listed as dead and it’s available to the public, all you need to do is contact the US Trademark Office and register it.

Registering it is the easy part, keeping it active is another story. The US Government does not allow anyone to sit on a trademark or logo without actively using it, this is how Pan AM Railroad keeps the Pan AM trademark and logo active, by using it in their business.

I have heard that the Braniff operating certificate has been permanently retired and will not be reissued to anyone. Perhaps they should do the same with Pan Am's?

I am sure Pan Am's operating certificate has been retired - or is owned by someone else now. Any startup would have to get a new certificate, and permission (for how many $$$?) to use the name.

Article says they've submitted a letter of intent for aircraft:

The new Eastern has done the same apparently. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm gonna send them my resume, just to see what kind of response I receive.

Maybe it needs to be seized under eminent domain.

I guess the industry needed Guilford around because Frank Lorenzo's been banned.

The grammar of that press release isn't exactly professional. Makes me question if it is legitimate at all with its run-on sentences and weird phrases. To wit: "...as certain criterion need to be met in order to deliver the specified flying experience that the brand wishes to extend to its audience."

In addition, a few other things don't add up:

The phone number (877) 588-4484 references two addresses: The first is at 200 Park Ave, Suite 1700, New York, NY 10166, and the second is 4311 Pan American Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30332.

The New York address is the address for this site: http://www.davincivirtual.com/loc/us...ity-virtual-offices/facility-1382, where you can "impress your clients with a virtual address at MetLife Building Executive Center, 200 Park Avenue, Suite 1700, New York City, NY 10166."

The second Atlanta address simply does not exist.

Finally, the phone number, when you call it, has an automated recording of a very proper British woman. When you press "0" for the representative you wait for 5 minutes and some guy picks up with a generic "hello."

Kind of odd that PAAGH (IF this a legit attempt) would be vague about it's business model, route structure, headquarters lol.....ya know, important stuff. "Southern tier markets" is a broad phrase.....are we taling GNV or GUA and from where? Newport News?? hehe

I am guessing Guilford's "services" division also surrendered the ex-Carnival 121 by now? The web site circa 2009 says they are a "spares provider" and has pictures of a Jetstream and the 727 with winglets. Do they get many calls for 727 parts?
