While I've always noticed that cloth seats seem to look better after a few years than leather, so that could be why the top picture looks so bad.
Quoting Grisee08 (Thread starter):
Now I realize these planes are going to Delta and when that happens the interiors will be completely done, but is it really necessary to let them fall apart until they get overhauled.
Quoting AA737-823 (Reply 5):
But other than that, it's pretty much normal.
Lots of carriers will lock out a seat hydrolock until.... "maintenance convenience." It's not a safety item, and for a carrier like AirTran, it's not an item of particular concern, either.
Quoting Flaps (Reply 19):
I think the response would be something like, "WOW!!! UA is really taking better care of their aircraft interiors these days!!!!"
Quoting KELPkid (Reply 14):
I've gotten chewed out by more than one flight attendant because I won the jackpot on the "select a seat with a broken recline mechanism" lottery, and had to demonstrate to them that the recline mechanism was busted, and that I wasn't trying to recline my seat on takeoff and landing...
Quoting catiii (Reply 7):
Half? you sure about that?
Quoting washingtonflyer (Reply 18):
Where are the dividers between First class and steerage class?
Quoting a318 (Reply 1):
Looks like an average airplane after operating a live flight full of passengers... nothing to see here?
Quoting tonyban (Reply 2):
Wouldn't use the word 'trashed' ! Just an aircraft interior under normal wear and tear, and heck, I've seen a lot worse than this !
Quoting tp1040 (Reply 3):
Somebody tell me what I am looking at. All I see is different seat cover material.
Quoting tonyban (Reply 4):
What exactly do you see is 'falling apart' ?
Quoting IADCA (Reply 26):
Quoting 777Jet (Reply 32):
When will the cabins receive the full Deltaization?
Quoting Grisee08 (Reply 34):
Don't get me wrong peeps, I like airTran...always have, but I expected to see a better looking cabin when I boarded this thing. It's been 8 years since the last 717 was delivered, and 15 since the first. They aren't THAT old.
Quoting catiii (Reply 37):
Quoting 777Jet (Reply 36):
If it's a DL 717, it will be th new DL cabin. DL is not flying them around with the AirTran cabin.
Quoting pasu129 (Reply 44):
I remember when the headrest cover on some airlines were required to be changed out on every flight, due to exact reason, hair grease, why isn't this implemented on domestic airlines, other than cost savings? I mean it's a piece of thin paper, don't think it adds too much weight?
Quoting prebennorholm (Reply 28):
I see only two rather nice and clean planes. But fitted with two very different types of seats. Not only is one with leather and the other with cloth, but the seat structures are also entirely different.
