And also in reply to LFutia. A strong brand such as KLM doesn't need change. Look at Delta, I don't care if I fly OC, NC or NNC. What is it now, NNNC? I'm trying to find a route where they don't fly the A330 but I ain't flying them because of the brand.

It's the product that should change ahead of the competition. Listen to the customer. It's only a matter of time the European Flag carriers will be losing against the LCC's and airlines from the Middle East. A slight change of paint won't help.

No worries it's not   Great effort though as a special scheme for the B789's and E-Jets (perhaps a little too Arke-ish) Doesn't come close to a proper replacement for the current livery.

Why would KLM want to change their livery? They're the oldest airline to use their original livery albeit with minor changes. I recognise the KLM livery, brand very clearly and I would put it into the "timeless" category. Is SQ the only airline out there that believes in the merits of keeping a brand consistent over time?!

That is an absolute horrid livery. The current crown works just fine and besides the crown should be placed over the KLM letters. I can understand keeping what is there now and adding a subtle orange line or something. The one that Avionics09 posted isn't a bad one at all instead of the grey I can an orange stripe on the body and on the tail a curvy dutch flag colours and also extend the 'KLM blauw' further with less white.

May I ask why is it necessary for airlines to keep it all white other than weight savings? Don't you want to stand out from others and make yourself more recognizable? Think 7G A320 & QF 744 Wunala Dreaming

Honestly, no other topic produces the level of melodramic and hyperbolic posts than liveries. I know this is an aviation enthusiast community, so it's only natural to be passionate about the aesthetics of the industry, but please cite one instance - just one - where a livery was responsible for the commercial success/failure of the operation. While there have been instances where governments have intervened in livery redesigns (AI, BG, DT), to my knowledge commercial viability has never been a factor.

Calm down, it was primarily written from a humorous slash sarcastic standpoint.

If this is the case, than all the fuss will be just a re-write of KLM Cityhopper into its proper logo:

'KLM Cityhopper'

in stead of the current:

'KLM'
-------cheatline---------windows--------------
'Cityhopper'

see: http://www.klmcityhopper.nl/ for the official logo.

and it will not be introduced on the Fokker 70's that are being phased out!

KLM is currently installing a new, full-flat business class seat accross the long-haul fleet. Almost all 747s are done by now, the 777s will follow.

For short-haul, in 2011 KLM re-introduced European Business Class. Although the hard product is a regular seat with the middle seat blocked and 33" pitch, it's on par with their European counterparts and generally receives positive critics for it's soft product (food, ground handling) and crew.

So all KLM did was lower the cheatline to pass under the main forward door and over the tip of the EMB90 nose. This requires a relocation of the name 'Cityhopper' to fit behind the 'KLM' titles above the windows.

A minor but successful adjustment I would say;

Another wavey scheme which I guess is the zeitgeist. I think the look will depend on whether it continues to sweep behind the wing, otherwise it might look a bit droop-nosed.

Also the 'Air France KLM' logo is now all white.

The new cheatline certainly looks nicer on the E-190 then how it used to be, would be nice to see it on all types of KLM aircraft although not sure if it would look great on the 747.
