China Airlines 777-300ER To LAX In Dec 2014

Mon May 12, 2014 4:38 pm

From December 2014, China Airlines will replace its 2x daily 747-400 TPE-LAX service with 2x daily 777-300ER.

http://airlineroute.net/2014/05/12/ci-lax-dec14/

This means there are only 4 remaining daily 747-400 flights to LAX, an airport that at one point had dozens of daily 744s.

Wondering when the JFK & FRA routes will see 77W deployment

BTW according to the latest revision of airlineroute.net CI has decided to deploy the 77W on only 2 daily flights in & out of LAX. The other 2 will still be served by 744.

Here's information on the interior of the CI 77W just in case anyone is curious: http://talkairlines.wordpress.com/20...rlines-new-boeing-777-300er-cabin/

So there will be no first class?

I understand that they do not plan to have first class on the upcoming B 777-300ERs. Nevertheless they ordered quite a number of them. Will any of them be fitted with first class seats?

Also I heard that they MIGHT order the B 747-8. Any news?

What are the current B 747-400 destinations? HKG, LAX, SFO, JFK, NRT, PEK as far as I know. YVR, AMS=no more?

Any info on why they're switching over? The fierce competition, retirement, etc?

The same as all the other carriers, more fuel efficient long haul aircraft with a more modern product. I believe the A340s will leave the CI fleet first?!

According to the airline official (unreleased data)
Current 77W plans include 77W to LAX in Dec 2014 and to JFK in Feb 2015 (Nonstop)
Specific dates of deploying the 77W to FRA and SFO are not yet released
The current JFK route via KIX will be terminated in Oct 2014 and the 744 will fly nonstop to JFK
Yet from JFK to TPE the 744 will need to stop at ANC
Meaning that CI passenger services will return to ANC after it left in 2011

(Yet to be confirmed) An airline official told me that during the ANC stopover no passengers will need to get in/out of the plane

747-400 will keep flying to regional destinations including PEK, PVG, HKG, NRT, KIX, CTS and long haul flights including that to HNL, LAX, SFO, AMS.

A340-300 will be flown to regional destinations including HKG, OKA, SIN and long haul destinations including YVR & VIE
