Cargojet Adds More 767Fs

Thu May 15, 2014 1:50 pm

Last February the carrier was awarded the Canada Post/Purolator contract which the airline will begin serving from April 1st next year. For that matter , it was announced last week by Cargofacts that CJT would lease two more 767-200Fs for "up to three years". A week later, the same source announced, and confirmed at the same time its previous beliefs, that Cargojet purchased two more, this time a pair of -300BCF that could be delivered by the end of this month.

Interesting but not completely unexpected developments for Cargojet which will introduce the 763F in Canada after doing so with the shorter version some years ago I believe.

BTW, thanks to yyz717 for the links.

Sweet 767-300 at YHM I was still hoping for MD-11 but this is still good.

Not really, as it means no DC10, CV580 and ultimately 727 - and a lot of the good people who make them fly at KF. Any updates on how CJT are going to handle the regional flying? Sub out to the cheapest bidder? Orca have some Metro's looking for work...

From a enthusiast stand point this is good. I so see your point about Kelowna Flightcraft.
No word on regional network I would think at YHM they will use Skylink and Castle Aviation for feeder service.

The type was never registered in Canada, had they chosen it, would it mean they should have paid for that? Also, the MD-11 is declining around the world whence the 767 has more days to live, especially as a twin jet but also as an already member of CJT's fleet.

I understand your point and I'm also sad to see them go, however, honestly, if KF had managed to keep the contract, how many more years would it have been possible or simply viable to operate the trijets?

The 10 I dont know, but I dont think KF had any plan to get rid of the 727.

Not disagreeing this is a bad move by CJT, its not all and the 763 is the perfect machine for them (A300 would have been better IMO but not with the 762 & 757 already on hand). Just pointing out it will mean job losses at KF too, which is worse than less classics for plane spotters.

Maybe nothing announced, but the 727 could not keep going forever regardless of who has the contract.
You know the gear is up and locked when it takes full throttle to taxi to the terminal.

Perhaps some could be hired by Cargojet.

No I just read on the Canadian Aviation news the following

http://canadianaviationnews.wordpres...nsion/comment-page-1/#comment-2469

The recently released quarterly financial results speaks about the future expanding fleet.
CargoJet has entered into agreements to purchase six Boeing 767-300ER series aircraft and to
lease two more Boeing 767-200ER aircraft. The airline has also signed a letter of intent to purchase one more
Boeing 757-200ER and to lease one 757-300 along with a 767-300 aircraft.
Company also executed a LOI for the option to purchase five
Challenger 601 aircraft that would give the capability to operate emergency medical and other charters.

That's would bring there fleet to

7 767-300ERs
4 767-200ERs
5 757-200ER
1 757-300ER(didn't know they made a 757-300 Freighter

Thins makes me a little nervous from a Where will you spend eternity? He,s more real then you think!!!!!

Interesting, however it's a lot of widebody capacity they plan to add. I guess the two additional 762F are the two I mentioned at the beginning.

I have a few friends that have spent more than a couple decades flying for KFC. They have all been told their job will end this time next year. Quite a kick in the onions.

With a few thousand hours in command of widebodies they are prime picking for Asian carriers.
Just because I stopped arguing, doesn't mean I think you are right. It just means I gave up!

There isnt. My guess this is a pax version, maybe they are really going after KF and Flair and going for the pax charter market too. After all, AC Jetz are dropping out of it, so there will be all their work up for grabs. They did it in the past with a couple of 727's IIRC, StarJet or something similar. A 753 seems overkill though.

Thats a pretty competitive game to get into too, particularly back east.

Or replace 2x 727's with 1x 767. Thats what they did at YVR when they introduced the 767, went from 3x 727 per night to 1x 767 & 1x 727. Their will now be duplicity on the KF routes, so they can combine those flights, plus the DC10's need replacing.

Im still intrigued what the plan is for the Convair flying, particularly out west.

Yeah, I forgot they already have their own night flights. Thus it indeed makes sense to combine those with smaller aircraft into a single larger one, in addition to replace the DC-10s.

and to lease one 757-300

This must be a typo. There are no cargo 753's yet, and for CJT to procure one and convert & certify it alone (when the ability to procure more is possibly minimal or nil) is highly unlikely.

Quoting fly_yhm (Reply 8):

CJT currently flies 10 722F's and Kelowna 13 722F's along with 2 D10F's, so even the fleet expansion plan quoted seems insufficient....

It would be good to see the dc10's find new owners.

However, the best we can reasonably expect is that the usaf will see a source of parts for the kc10.

Their route network still shows a flight to WAW.

I asked as I haven't seen it operated in a while. They seem to be sending the current 767-200s to
Mexico a lot of the weekend.

Anyone know when they will start receiving the 767-300s?

As I said at the beginning, based on what on what's published by Cargofacts, the first two could be handed over this month.

Canadian Aviation News reports that the first 763F for Cargojet is sitting at YQG Windsor with cargo door installed and in basic First Choice cs.

Didn't Premier just open a new MRO in YQG? Could be getting painted there.
