CI's ANZ Skycouch: Family Couch - Photos + Info

Thu May 29, 2014 7:49 am

http://talkairlines.wordpress.com/20...y-class-skycouch-details-released/

Boeing 777-300ER configuration: 358 seats (40 C/ 62 PE/ 256 Y) (Y: 30 FC + 226 Y)

Somehow the seats aren't as visually appealing as the ANZ ones.
Maybe they will look better when installed on the 777-300ER.
Also, it's Interesting how CI chose Zodiac for Y and B/E for C.
Looking forward to the airline releasing information on the Premium Economy product.

Uhh, is that seriously the pattern they're using on the Y/sky couch seats? The weird dark brown on brown splotches make it look like the seats have just been stained a bunch of times. If this is some sort of new style, I'm not on board (pun intended). Maybe they're just pre-staining it so that when it actually does get stained and nasty, no one will notice. In my opinion, whatever bonus points they get for utilizing the sky couch are lost by covering it with the same material as a 1983 Toyota pick-up truck.

LOL that made my day... The seats in the 2nd photo do look ugly & dirty. However, I have a feeling that it is because of the photographer's skills & lighting, or maybe Zodiac gave CI one of the first seats they made for the carrier. The actual product may not look as bad. (Hopefully....)

Do note that in one of the photos of the post, there are also some seats covered with red cloth. Interesting color choices IMO. Reminds me of RJ Economy Class, in which there are a few red seats among the gray seats.

Clearer picture makes it look more like a pattern than splotches: http://s.nownews.com/media_crop/2969...487185590039ef814029a705b29d20.jpg

Still not that pretty, though.

The pattern looks like cherry blossoms.

2500 years of cultural refinement and you guys can't recognize art!

32in slim back seats, should be close to a 34in pitch old style seat

Whats with the large PE (60 seat) section? 8 across?? Their version of the VS PE they had on the leased a330s??

No info yet. Maybe it's the airline's strategy to release 1 aspect of it's new 77W every other month
March we saw the design of C Class
April the airline announced the new Wi-Fi service and installment of Panasonic eX3
May we see the new Y Class
Probably in June we will be see the newest premium economy!
What we know now for sure is that CI will give the class a unique name
Intra-company PE naming contest kicked off a few months ago and I believe the results are out already
Just not publicized yet

I completely agree with trex8 and thrufru; the pattern looks like a traditional cherry blossom painting. It's really in line with CI's cultural brand image. The pictures don't do it justice, especially with the hard flash. Great new products of CI by the way. A much more comprehensive look, compared to the plastic fantastic interiors of the mainland Chinese carriers (CZ definitely springs to mind)

Looking at the pic that shows the seat belt on, if one is laying down and goes upwards in some chop I can see how the seats could become stained in a dark brown colour

Hahaha, makes it easier to avoid cleaning!

Reminds me of what I was taught first day in the navy. Always drink orange juice. Tastes the same coming up as it did going down!

If it's CI wouldn't the pattern be plum blossom instead of cherry blossom? That would be more in line with the Taiwanese heritage.

They stopped branding J as Dynasty/Dynasty Supreme, but they're going to come up with a fancy name for PE?

... Why?

Those may actually be plum blossoms
Look up photos of plum blossoms on branches + cherry blossoms on branches
They actually look alike

Maybe its a marketing strategy
To come up with a fancy name so the brand new class type can catch potential customer's attention
C Class naming trend is slowing dying out
JL, SQ, CI all stopped calling their C Classes special names
Airlines with unique C Class names: BR, AF (b/c it's french), BA, KL, KE, TG....

News interviews in Taiwan show that Taiwanese people are actually pretty fond of the new Family Couch
Those interviewed think that it can reduce the chance of kids crying or screaming
They also think that the price is reasonable for long haul flights
Interesting responses compared to that of the inflight Wi-Fi service
Those interviewed in Taiwan mostly think that it's too expensive.
