I saw 436 a few days ago. It definitely does NOT 'need' repainting yet. But if it does go to the paint shop then 475UA better be next in line .. Or expect even more pissed off employees ..

Well, in one of the past posts it was scheduled to go later this year for a complete repaint. What that will be is a guess for now. It is the last Continental Airlines paint job in the fleet.

N75436 is not going to paint now - sked to exit HOU 2152/11Jul, then revenue service for at least 2 days.

N521UA sked to ferry SFO-VCV 2148/11Jul - fleet exit to FedEx

N212UA entered SFO on 7/9/14
N774UA does not have WiFi installed
N79011 exited HKG on 7/8/14 with WiFi - first sCO 772 with WiFi

789
-N38950 will have WiFi once it is placed into revenue service (photos show it with a ray dome already installed)
Of course, WiFi could be not active at start of revenue service.

So are all Chautauqua ERJ-145s for sure no longer flying for UA? And if so I believe that means there are no more aircraft with Continental titles flying (other than the retro).
Long live the Red Tail Diesel Nine!

Yet still no Y power?

Also, what is the plan with the 739's? I'm confused by how some seem to have power throughout, others seem to only have E+ power. Is UA planning on making them all power or all E+ power, or keeping them odd?

United has completed the conversion of all 152 Airbus 319 and 320 aircraft to larger bins with new doors, latches and hinges. Many were done in DEN, SFO and were hard to track completion.

Hey guys, quick question- United still shows 3 767-224ERs on the books. It says they've been sold to UTair, stored at GYR. I recently read UTair is reconfiguring their 767-200s to a 255 capacity in Kansas City, are these 3 aircraft going there first? Any info would be appreciated

The last three "dark" 739s are in Maint bases at this time.

N28478 (unit that was leased for 739 scimitar winglet testing) is in INT as is N69819.

N68822 is in MCO, where WiFi has been added previously, but INT has been doing all 73NG WiFi recently (to my knowledge). Maybe MCO will pick up the pace on system-wide WiFi installations

As for new deliveries, N69830 flew directly from SEA induction to INT for WiFi - hopefully this trend will continue, meaning all UA mainline aircraft will have at least one of the following: AVOD, overhead TVs, WiFi, streaming WiFi, DirecTv.

738:
N76508 sked to enter INT 2166/20Jul, WiFi probable

739:
N28478 sked to exit INT 2167/21Jul with WiFi

763:
N672UA sked to exit GSO 2160/21Jul

All OO aircraft have the new seats. If I'm not mistaken the new config would only work with the new seats. Might have to double check with a YV or G7 employee to confirm.

I haven't seen where other 757 operators are ridding themselves of these birds near as fast as UA and they seem to be doing OK (better) financially. In the long-term, UA might have a jump on the competition for modernizing their fleet but they're losing out on so much current market potential by accelerating these retirements IMHO. 3-4 years down the road, UA might show us that they were fleet planning geniuses...then again, maybe not.

UAL's mantra has always beel Sell the airplanes while they have some value. Fedex has been a customer of ours for as long as I've been at United, Ftom th3 727 Combi's, the 727 200's and 727-200 ADV to the DC-10's that were converted to MD-10's
Mainly because Fedex can count on Matched cockpits, and Matched Equipment in my 31 years we're rarely flown airplans with significant differences in the cockpits. It saves on spares and Training.

So far from what I've seen the Q400s and ERJ-170s will no longer operate from IAD starting this fall, I see a boost in ERJ-170 and Q400 flying from EWR. Example EWR-BWI gets 3 of it's four daily switched to ERJ-170s, EWR-GSO goes to 3-4 daily Q400s from ERJ-145s.

Just an observation, I checked a Monday in Dec. and 3 of the 4 flights were on Q400s and the 4th was an E145.

I'm sure UA has their reasons but from a delay/airspace congestion point of view the Q400 (or other turbo prop) is the perfect equipment to use on short-haul routes in the DC-NY-BOS corridor. I know a lot of flights on these routes get capped at FL220 (or less than optimal altitudes) and many times have a speed limit placed on them as well and that can't be efficient. I know some here on a-net claim that people shy away from prop aircraft but I've seen a lot more sour faces when people board an E145.

Because props can't operate at pure jet speeds, they are normally exempt from many (not all) ATC flow restrictions...ESP, miles-in-trail etc. If users want to increase the "on-time" stats of EWR, depending on capacity needs and available aircraft, the turbo-props would be a big help versus similar-sized RJs.

Hmm... I guess 5029 must have caught an earlier train.

Boeing must ahave assigned the next 6 fuselages to replace the ones that derailed.

Quoting jetblastdubai (Reply 143):
Because props can't operate at pure jet speeds, they are normally exempt from many (not all) ATC flow restrictions...ESP, miles-in-trail etc. If users want to increase the "on-time" stats of EWR, depending on capacity needs and available aircraft, the turbo-props would be a big help versus similar-sized RJs.

Also, CO was originally interested in them for EWR, because they can sometimes use the crosswind runway, while mainline planes are using the primary runways. I have personally landed east on the crosswind in an E145, we braked hard and exited long before the intersection. The Q400 could probably do it without hard braking. Unfortunately, I don't think this worked out like they hope. They don't do it too often, and I always feel like at EWR the primary runways were the crosswind runways. I have been tossed around in a Q200 (and a 738 for that matter) landing to the south, many times.

319:
N853UA exited LCQ 2162/2Aug with slimline even though seat map shows a 320 aircraft
N855UA entered LCQ 2161/1Aug, should be for slimlines

738:
N36247 still flying GUM services
N76523 entered INT 2156/1Aug for WiFi
N87531 exited INT 2157/1Aug with WiFi

739:
N68822 sked to exit MCO 2170/2Aug with WiFi - first WiFi done in MCO in a while

752:
N575UA still flying revenue service at least for now - soon to be fleet exit

772:
N212UA sked to exit SFO 663/3Aug, not showing any upgrades
N225UA delayed exit PEK to 2167/5Aug
N228UA did not enter PEK, flew N225UA's sked departure

I thought the primary reason CO took in the Q400s was because it circumvented their extremely inflexible scope clause. The cap on jet aircraft was 50 up until the merger, but the cap for prop aircraft was either 76 or 82 (?) ... something around there. Essentially if they wanted COEX/COCX to operate anything larger than an ERJ-145 or CRJ-200, their only option was the Q400. I wasn't aware that they selected the aircraft for any sort of operational reasons aside from wanting to operate the largest aircraft allowed under the scope contract, but I'm not as intimately familiar on the subject as some are around here, so I could be mistaken. If it was for any sort of operational reason, I'm not exactly sure what that would be -- the E145 can do pretty much everything the Q400 can do and then some, apart from holding 20+ fewer pax.
