Thanks so much. That was really helpful. By the way, where did you get the 2001 NW Timetable?

I picked it up @ PNS, back in 2001.
Can find many timetables for sale on Ebay, also.

Why haven't airlines, replaced the 50-seat aircraft yet?
Why haven't airlines, up gauged more 50-seat flights?
Or airlines choose, to use the larger (70+ seat) aircraft on mainline routes, for example United Express (new) E175 aircraft flying ORD-LGA..

Anyone have any answer for my questions?

I think DL has something like 8 RON aircraft so I'd imagine the C gates are used primarily for the morning push. I flew out of C15 on DL one day. It was sort of strange boarding a DL flight from C.

I agree, I think we may see some AA/US consolidation. I'm hearing US will move to C in July or August.

For WN I just took a look at the airport's flight arrivals page and for today 6 were in use. They can run 60 flights a day with six gates, so they still have some room to work with, but not much...right now the combined FL/WN is around 55 a day. By the time the new terminal opens, they may very well need a 7th gate.

MSY's Wikipedia page, for what it's worth, says the following:
Concourse B[edit]
Concourse B opened in 1974 and has 11 Gates: B1, B2, B4, B5, B7-B12, B15. US Airways (Gates B10, B12, B15), AirTran Airways (Gate B2), and Southwest Airlines (Gates B2, B4, B5, B7, B8, B9, B11) operate out of this concourse. Gate B1 space has been taken over by TSA for passenger screening, and the gate is no longer in use.

Concourse C[edit]
Except customs pre-cleared flights, all nonstop international arrivals are handled by Concourse C. This concourse also contains both common-use and overflow gates, available for infrequent services and charter flights as well. It was also remodeled in 2007 after the damage of the February 2006 tornado, which was designed by Manning Architects.[59]

Concourse C opened on March 18, 1992[60] and has 15 Gates: C1 – C12, C14 – C16. JetBlue Airways (Gate C2), Alaska Airlines (Gate C4), Spirit Airlines (Gate C6), Frontier Airlines (Gate C9), Delta Airlines (Gates C11, C15, C16), American Airlines (Gates C8, C10, C12) all operate out of this concourse. Gates C1, C3, C5, and C7 are currently common-use and overflow gates used during busy periods and for charter flights. C11 is also utilized by larger international arrival aircraft, due to offering the largest available apron space, and direct access to the concourse's customs/immigration area.

Concourse D[edit]
The newest concourse, D, opened on December 23, 1996 and houses a Delta Air Lines Sky Club in between gates D2 and D4, the sole such airline club remaining at Armstrong.[61] A six-gate rotunda, designed by Sizeler Thompson Brown,[62] has been built on the end of the concourse. This rotunda includes gates D7-12[63]

Concourse D has 12 operating Gates: D1 – D12. Delta Air Lines (Gates D2, D4, D6, D8, D10, D12), United Airlines (Gates D1, D3, D5, D9, D11), and Air Canada Express (Gate D7) operate out of this concourse.

Didn't AirTran at one time fly TPA and FLL to GPT?

Was that subsidized service?
Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 33):
Also GPT-DFW at one point.

GPT was hopping at that time.

AirTran did a lot to help GPT grow. And if I recall, MCO went bye bye before HOU and DFW. BNA I barely even remember, it was so short lived. TPA, FLL, and ATL were their most popular routes.

I also remember Reno Air, Nations Air, Southeast, LorAir, and many of the other Casino charters in the late 1990s/early 2000s. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e8/Reno_Air_N823RA.jpg/800px-Reno_Air_N823RA.jpg

No doubt FL has a huge impact on GPT.

QQ operated the Casino Airlink charters and then split as the company headed into difficult financial headwinds.

Nations Air and Southeast were both mainstays on the GPT junket circut for several years.

Lor Air operated that old 732 on behalf of the Biloxi Grand Casino.

Before any of them there was AV Atlantic, which was the first junket operator to actually have an airline name/tiltle on the plane.

Hi! I'm glad to see that MSY, my home airport, has somewhat of a topic now!

Does anyone know who will take over the two or three US Airways gates in Concourse B at MSY once the US/AA merger is complete? If WN would somehow acquire those gates, they would control all of Concourse B. Is there any chance they will remain with AA. Currently, AA is located in Concourse C.

Also, it's too bad that Concourse A has been closed for a while and probably will for the years to come. Any idea why Concourse A been closed? Was it because it was not needed anymore? It used to be shared by US and Northwest. It'd be nice to see it reopened, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

I forgot to mention earlier about NK adding MSY-FLL and MSY-IAH in August.

The IAH was kind of a head scratcher at first but the market is probably bit enough for two carriers. Plus NK should help keep UA's fares in check some. The FLL makes a lot of sense because it's timed for some major Central American connections.

US will be moving to C sometime this summer. I last heard it was going to happen in July. I'd expect the old US gates on B to remain empty for the time being. PEOPLExpress is coming to town in August, so theoretically they could use one of those gates on B, but in all probability they'll end up on C.

That's pretty much it. It's just not needed. When DL and NW merged, it made sense for NW to consolidate its ops with DL on D. So that left just US on A. I'm sure it was cost prohibitive for the airport to keep the whole concourse running for just one airline. It could be reopened if needed, but I just don't see it happening. I used to like flying out of A. Always very easy.

What happens to the old terminals once the new terminal at MSY is finished?

Last I heard the only one that's going to remain standing is D. It's going to be used for airport office space and charter flights.

A,B,C are getting torn down to make room for the F.B.O's and eventually a new intermodal cargo facility.

I can't wait to see MSY's new terminal and concourses. MSY (as much as I love it) has a feel that no other airport has, and that's not really a good thing!

Well since the site is refusing to fix the problem of not letting some people upload images of anything, (only the stupid default image) I can't show the current profess of the Airbus facility being built here, so if someone ne could either help with that or email me I can send that person the pictures and they can be uploaded that way.

As an airline nut from early childhood, the MSY of old has a special place in my heart. I grew up near MOB, so MSY was my first "big" airport. I loved the terminal's architecture and open-air observation deck. The DL L1011s & DC8s and NA DC10s were plentiful, and became addicted to the smell of jet exhaust there!
Great Lakes, great life.

Do we have a number for WB/NB gates? International @ MSY?

I don't have an exact number of WB capable gates, but I can tell you they can depart from C or D. I've seen 763's, 333's, 346's, 772's, M11'S, and 744's on C11 over the years. When NA and PA were flying they flew DC10's out of B as well.

The INTL gates at MSY right now are all on C. I think there are 6 gates directly connected to the Customs area..1,3,5,6,9,11.

AA is adding a lot of capacity (relatively) at MOB both to CLT and DFW:
