As usual this is the season where everything is at full speed in Turkish Aviation;
-IST keeps breaking records day after day. Over 1300 flights a day!
-The new Istanbul airport groundbreaking took place last month and they must really have to work
hard to have it ready by late 2017 with 90 Million pax capacity and 3 runways. There are already talks
about increasing the final capacity from 150M to 180M even 200M.
-Until then TAV has plans on expanding the terminals at IST moving toward where the current Cargo facilities are located.
-TK also talking about moving upwards of 60-70 frames to SAW from its current 21jets based there.
-TC-JOD TK A333 delivered, so there is only one more A333 to arrive this year.
-First new batch of 77W should arrive shortly, second one is already left the assembly line, for a total of 4 77Ws this year for TK.
-With Cotonou, Benin TK now flying to 39 destinations in Africa, bringing the total of 26 countries in the continent. WOW!! I remember first
hearing that TK will be serving 35 cities in Africa, I was like everyone else...doubtful. Which was only a few years back.
-Iberia resumes flights to Istanbul. Good Luck to them.
-Borajet gets its first E190LR at SAW. Hope they are successful with the type.
-Turkish Airlines Opens Doors To National Geographic Channel Cameras
Show to air in October and November...
-Also TK and AV will launch code shares. AV will place its code on TK IST-BCN/MAD services, and TK on MAD-BOG/CLO/MED and BCN-BOG services operated by AV.
