Brisbane Airport "Security Event"

Tue Jul 08, 2014 1:11 pm

ALL flights in and out of Brisbane Airport have been delayed following a security incident.

A spokeswoman from Brisbane Airport Cooperation has confirmed that all arrivals and departures are suspended while the Australian Federal Police deal with a security matter.

There are unconfirmed reports that a car has driven onto the tarmac and that a laser pointer was used to distract planes during take-off and landing.

I hate lasers and their disruptive uses.

There are ALWAYS security events at Brisbane Airport, especially the international terminal.

I think it has something to do with SEVERE understaffing at security screening.

Chaos then. As long as all are safe. And being school holidays, hotels around OOL will already be full to capacity...

Didn't get on the runway, but somebody did exit the car, and AFP used dog squads to find the person. Airport closed for just under 90 minutes.

I don't understand why these people feel the need to do this. Their intent seems to do harm and they should be punished severely. I know on the US East Coast there was a problem with this. Although there weren't cars driving onto the tarmack, these guys were more discreet. Regardless, these people should be punished because te result of their actions could be death. I know the punishment here in the US is serious I just don't recall what it is.

Hoping for the best to those landing in Brisbane.
