While I hope... As noted:

I don't know how they can possibly certify the aircraft without all the certification documents.

Which will be *at least* end of June.

It depends on what documents are missing and how much review is required. I've seen aircraft certified the day after the last document, but it was a little one page non-contested bit of information where the certification authorities had already approved the work, but the piece of paper didn't make it from the sub-component certification to the final packet.    (Paper is done, or it isn't... Yes, much is pdf scans today...)

The pictured msn 50010 will become HB-JBA, it currently has Canadian test registration C-FPAI.

Serials 50011 thru 50015 will also go to Swiss and become HB-JBB thru HB-JBE.
50011 already has test reg C-FPBD assigned.

I expect Swiss to place some kind of sticker once the plane arrives in ZRH. Just as they did with their first 777, which, IIRC, received the special sticker once in ZRH. There's still plenty of time though... Not scheduled to enter service until 15 July.
From what Sylvain Faust said on a Periscope stream earlier today, there should be some kind of media flight/presentation on the 6th July in ZRH.

Would that be a first: certification of two major submodels (different fuselage length) before first delivery?

I've gotten so lost on this part so I have to ask, what is the current planned date of delivery to Swiss of the First a/c? And is going to be just one or more?

I would suggest looking at post #40, some good information, and a link to a spreadsheet. This is showing the first three Swiss birds are in "pre flight prep"

Unfortunately still no firm date, but it should be soon!

And something from Bombardier: Bombardier CSeries Aircraft Makes its Dublin Debut at the 72nd IATA Annual General Meeting

Quote:
SWISS-branded Bombardier CS100 aircraft on display at the Dublin Airport during world’s largest gathering of airline leaders, June 1 – June 3

Montréal, June 1, 2016 – Bombardier Commercial Aircraft announced today that the C Series aircraft liveried in first operator Swiss International Airlines’ (SWISS) colours will make its Irish debut in Dublin, Republic of Ireland ahead of the 72nd IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit. The CS100 aircraft – flight test vehicle five (FTV5) – will be featured on static display during the event and will be parked at the Dublin Airport where it will host visitors and media tours.

“As we approach first delivery and entry into service with launch operator SWISS next month, it’s our pleasure to be showcasing the CS100 aircraft to influential industry leaders in Dublin during this premier IATA event,” said Fred Cromer, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “Our execution has been flawless in 2016 and as our teams focus on meeting our commitments, we’re taking every opportunity to update the industry on our progress and continue to promote the C Series aircraft worldwide.”

The first CS100 will be delivered to SWISS in June and is expected to enter service in July 2016.

No TCDS published yet on the EASA website. Nothing from BBD either.

A bit of a random question that comes from watching all the recent delivery footage... it appears that with the C Series Bombardier made the decision to use a roof hatch for flight deck emergency egress. Based on this fact and the fact that I have never seen a photo of a C Series with open flight deck windows I can only assume that the flight deck windows on the C Series don't open.

My question is, if my assumption is correct, what gives? Not having operable windows seems be a common theme on Bombardier products and given the amount of coverage they've had about the C Series being designed by pilots, for pilots I'm shocked that not a single one said "Hey, can we have a window that opens?" Having spent 12 years working as a pilot in airline operations having a window that you can pop open has come in handy more times than I can count from an operational perspective and is also just a nice way to get some fresh air for the few minutes you're on the ground. Unless there's a huge drag penalty created by the window seems, I just can't see any reason not to have this feature. What gives Bombardier?

The original production ramp-up plan was too ambitious.

There are simply not enough firm orders to push production to 5 per month so soon.
