Hello! Thank you for that information I was not aware and I'm tracking deliveries.

The best place for you to track the MSN of Korean Air is in this file. Its updated regularly from people spotting on the ramp at Mirabel or other sources such as when the FAL is opened to media and some pictures leak with MSN # and/or a sticker of the operator.

What's the story behind 50007, 50008 and 50009? Why was 50010 (HB-JBA) delivered before these 3 frames?

N837MH wrote:

According to ATDB, Korean Air's first CS300 has serial number 55006. This will be the 4th CS300 production frame, the first three are 55003, 55004 and 55005 (all airBaltic).

As far as we know, 50007, 50008 and 50009 appear to be completed, but stored without engined. We know that 50010+ are Swiss, so the planes stored without engines are assumed to be 50007 to 50009. We saw a picture of C-FPHB a while back that is one of the planes stored. It's unsure which serial number it is specifically because the serial is covered. I saw another picture yesterday (https://twitter.com/FlySWISS/status/803294229929852928) of C-FPGP which is also stored without engines. This is probably one of 50007, 50008 or 50009 as well.

We don't really know why exactly BBD chose to start with 50010 instead of 50007. 07 to 09 are probably going to another customer, but we don't know who.
Quantos,

I maintain the Airbus A220 (formerly Bombardier C Series) Aircraft Status sheet: https://goo.gl/HZshto

Possibly BBD saw what happened with Boeing and the "terrible teens" 787s and thus made a gap in production to have the first commercial planes more finalized and then come back to them and modify them? I know that the CSeries hasn't had many major changes like the 787s, but it could just been foresight by BBD. Another possibility, IIRC, is that the CS100 was supposed to have a different launch customer and not LX. Possibly they were to go to that operator and then they opted out of launching and deferred? I could be wrong but i believed that Braathens or Republic was supposed to launch way back in the beginning.

Indeed that is the most credible explanation. The launch operator was to be Malmo Aviation, part of Braathen. They decided not to launch after FTV1 engine failure. I guess it was simpler for BBD to build and park their 3 first CS100 MSN 50007 thru 5009 than re-allocate them to Swiss.

AFAIK there as never been any information or communication, not even rumors, in regards to physical problems and/or redesign on the Cseries. All problems were either the engine, FBW, softwares, etc. As such the 3 MSNs complete without engines must not be waiting for rework but rather for their client to be ready to take them.

We saw a pictures on fully assembled Cseries without engines nor paint yesterday, see a few post above for the links. Not sure if these are MSN 50007-50009 of recently built aircraft waiting for PWC to deliver their engine / blades.

According to Transport Canada website, I couldn't find anything about C-FPHB, C-FPGP, or MSN 50007-9. But it also seems that the 1st frame for airBaltic doesn't show up anywhere, so that seems useless. Can't find any record anywhere except those photos.

Yup, the aero is completely clean. There is not even a vortex generator that needed to be added. Amazing engineering if you think about it.

I am aware of a (relatively) minor problem with the keel beam, some micro cracks appeared on the static airframe and reinforcements were installed on the first aircrafts (7-8 at least).

IIRC first test frame was damaged due to engine failure, so it sounds reasonable to keep her as testbed.

After that one Swiss will have 4x CS100 and Baltic x1 CS300. There are still two units to be delivered for BDD to meet its latest goal. I know 2x Swiss CS100 and 1x Baltic CS300 are complete with engines and are at various stage of interior fitting and system testing, then its the paint job and flight tests. Hopefully 2 will make it by December 31st.

Impossible, as Swiss didn't even receive the 4th aircraft. I think Sylvain meant 50013.

Sylvain made a typo, the 4th (50013) is due for delivery in the coming days.

Latest plan was to deliver 7 CSeries aircraft this year (5x CS100, 2x CS300), 1 CS300 delivery slipped into 2017.

I know that the time gap between rollout and delivery can vary, but ground tests and flight test take some time (a bit longer if the frame goes to AAB  )

Pretty sure first flight for MSN 50014, 5th frame destined for Swiss aloft right now http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BBA514. Second flight scheduled later today. No news on MSN 50013, HB-JBD, 4th frame for LX, was supposed to be delivered 12/2 (Friday) then 12/5 (Monday) but no record of any flight or delivery.

BBD confirmed Korean as 3rd operator starting mid 2017
http://atwonline.com/airframes/korean-a ... -300s-2017

Considering they still expect to deliver 35 Cseries next year, by mid year they should be somewhere between 12 and 15 by mid year
http://atwonline.com/manufacturers/bomb ... r-expected

That means the next 14-17 units (+2 till year end) are all going to Swiss and Baltic? These two are taking all the frames that BBD (and PW) can get out of the FAL.

AFAIK other programs from A and B had a more diverse user base early in their new programs. Not sure if this mean anything?

Regarding the Korean Air deliveries:

Seoul-based Korean Air expects to take delivery of seven Bombardier CSeries 300s next year, becoming the first operator of the type in Asia, Bombardier VP-CSeries aircraft program Robert Dewar told ATW at last week’s airBaltic CS300 unveiling.

“There are already Korean Air employees in Montreal, Mirabel, on the production side. Deliveries could happen from mid-2017 onward,” Dewar said.

They also had a more diverse and much larger order book and most of the customers clamoring to get the plane in service quickly. I'd say the difference is at least partially that CSeries customers are more willing to and in a better position with flexible fleet plans to patiently wait and let other airlines work out any early service bugs, which is nothing new for the program.

The upshot is that the performance so far may mean Swiss and Air Baltic's willingness to take the risk early deliveries mean they get to reap the benefits earlier. Let's hope this continues.

there's no info yet on KAL's exact c/n. I guess we'll know it as soon as somebody spots a KAL CS300 in YMX, which is not to happen for at least 5 more months IMHO.

First KAL c/n is 55006.

According to Air Transport Word Online Swiss will be the second operator of the CS300 not KAL

Swiss' 5th CS100 has been delivered and is now on its way to ZRH.

This was the final CSeries delivery for the year.

Of the 6 C Series delivered to both Swiss and Baltic, 5 currently show up on Flightradar24 as either in flight or ready to depart, very cool.

First KAL c/n is 55006.

That's just a supposition: Sylvain Faus originally revealed KAL to be the next carrier to receive the CS300, hence me and Quantos put that as 55006 on his spreadsheet. Several sources picked that up (e.g. planespotters, ATDB, abcdlist, etc) though there's no confirmation from the FAL. (noone saw 55006 actually sporting a KAL label or anything at all actually)
