Quoting slcdeltarumd11 (Thread starter): WN, AS, and AA all had strong earnings |

Quoting delimit (Reply 5): For comparison's sake: Delta just released their PR. 1.4 billion in revenue. |
Quoting SonomaFlyer (Reply 7): ! The pilots contract is up for negotiation soon and they obviously want more including restoration of their pay to pre-bankruptcy levels. |
Quoting ORDBOSEWR (Reply 6): From DL press release: Delta's pre-tax income for the June 2014 quarter was $1.4 billion, excluding special items1, an increase of $593 million over the June 2013 quarter on a similar basis. Delta's net income for the June 2014 quarter was $889 million, or $1.04 per diluted share, and its operating margin was 15.1 percent, excluding special items. |
Quoting strfyr51 (Reply 4): though it's rumored we're getting 40 A321 NEO's, (which I'll believe when they announce it formally) |
Quoting strfyr51 (Reply 4): |
Quoting SonomaFlyer (Reply 7): whereas DL made 1.4b in a single month |
Quoting RDH3E (Reply 12): No, they made it over the quarter, not in a month. Maybe you meant to say that since they made 1.4b that DL made each month what it took UA a quarter to make? |
Quoting Jetblue1965 (Reply 14): Quoting RDH3E (Reply 12): No, they made it over the quarter, not in a month. Maybe you meant to say that since they made 1.4b that DL made each month what it took UA a quarter to make? And I don't know why they're quoting the 1.4B figure. Net income for DL Q2 is 889m ex-specials, 801m including. |
Quoting STT757 (Reply 10): While I would love to see it, I don't see the need. The A321NEO doesn't have the range to replace the sCO 757s operating EWR-BCN, EWR-HAM, EWR-LIM etc.. UA might as well wait and see what Boeing does to address their customer's 757 requirements. The 737-9MAX will handle the domestic stuff, but there's a need for 4,000mi range that neither the 737-9MAX nor the A321NEO can meet right now. |
Quoting MIflyer12 (Reply 15): Do you want to cite operating income, or after-tax income? There are lots of reasons that financial statements don't report just a single number. |

Quoting slcdeltarumd11 (Thread starter): I have no idea Jeff seems like a total idiot but he has cut costs on everything so they have to make money eventually, right? |
Quoting strfyr51 (Reply 4): BUT!! This IS Progress as soon we should be able to exploit the new arplanes, though it's rumored we're getting 40 A321 NEO's, (which I'll believe when they announce it formally) |
Quoting jetblastdubai (Reply 20): Has UA, their accountants or any other group stated publicly/accurately how much, additionally, it costs the company to operate with two separate flight attendant groups or other separate work groups due to contract issues? |

Quoting SonomaFlyer (Reply 7): UA will post something like 500m for the entire quarter and call it good whereas DL made 1.4b in a single month. |
Quoting LAXintl (Reply 23): US Airways which was (still is) stuck between East and West said the cost and loss of crew efficiency was never a big financial issue for them. |
Quoting toxtethogrady (Reply 25): I'm not sure what kind of magic worked for them that hasn't worked for United, so far. |

Quoting cle757 (Reply 28): They will post a bad quarter and then blame the employees, then in a couple weeks announce further outsourcing of jobs to minimum wage workers. |
Quoting 175erj (Reply 29): Correct! They will once again under-perform and blame employees and their express carriers. It's always the blame game at United, it's always everyone else's fault but management. But, don't worry they have the A350 on the way. #gamechanger |
Quoting slcdeltarumd11 (Thread starter): United Airlines Earnings Call What Do You Expect? |
Quoting LHCVG (Reply 30): Obviously I don't have inside info, but I do see the logic for possibly getting 321NEO's that would replace 757s above 739/9MAX work but below those scenarios where only the 757 will do. |
Quoting toxtethogrady (Reply 25): I was about to say American is expected to report a profit north of $1.4 billion after having been one of the saddest sacks in the business not more than two years ago. |
Quoting Jetblue1965 (Reply 27): 1. Their results include USAir now, which has been more consistently profitable. I think PMAA has shown a loss in every quarter in 2011. |
Quoting Jetblue1965 (Reply 27): 2. Only 2nd quarter post-BK, so they're enjoying all the BK cost savings, "honeymoon" if you will |
Quoting Jetblue1965 (Reply 27): 3. Much of the painful work of integrating systems, pilots, FAs etc haven't started, or barely started |
Quoting Jetblue1965 (Reply 27): 4. Most of the new NB fleet hasn't arrived yet. It's a lot different in the income statement showing financing costs for 30 planes versus 200 planes. |
Quoting 175erj (Reply 29): It's always the blame game at United, it's always everyone else's fault but management. |
Quoting slcdeltarumd11 (Reply 32): More airlines announced great results today..............................so the pressure is really on United now to deliver |
Quoting IAHWorldflyer (Reply 36): UA can't seem to get the widebodies off the ground on time this summer. It's always listed as "gate maintenance". |
Quoting FlyHossD (Reply 37): I do hope that UAL posts better numbers, ones that are closer to DL and AA. |
Quoting Jetblue1965 (Reply 14): If people are gonna quote an inflated figure to make DL look better, might as well quote EBITDA |
