A320neo 737max - Customer Loyalty With Next Gen?

Thu Jul 31, 2014 4:02 pm

I was wondering about what airlines changed to another manufacturer with the next generation single aisles upcoming?
We probably discussed most of them separately, but to compare, I wanted to gather what other airlines might be candidates for such a swap?

A32X to 737MAX

-Silkair - imo Boeing made an unrefusable offer, as there was no obvious reason to switch back, after they just replaced their classics with A320's, but the backswitch started already with the order of 'normal' 738's
-Monarch - probably the same? After they just retired their A300's and soon their 757's too, they were heading straight to a clean, A32X/A330-fleet ... maybe availability played into this as well?
-Air Canada - most likely their recent love to all Boeing products? They did replace all A340's with 777, A330's won't stay that long either, so the 737's probably fits their plans, in addition Boeing offered to buy some Ejets back...

are there more, that did change in that direction?

737 to A32Xneo

-pegasus - they already incorporated A320's in the last months, was this a planned strategy shift, did the responsible persons change or another unrefusable offer ?
-norwegian taking a big bunch of neos but will operate a mixed fleet, same for the
-Lion Group (Batik soon taking delivery of first A320)
-ANA - the very fresh neo order - a roll back to an airbus narrowbody-fleet ?
-Qantas and Garuda momentarily have A320neos on their books, but do they end up with citylink and jetstar or are they implemented in the mainline fleets?
-VivaAerobus - a truly fitting fleet renewal

did I miss some here?

And most important, from which airlines can we expect a similar swap in the future? Who hasn't decided yet about the fleets future?

-Ryanair - I don't expect them to change to airbus
-air Berlin - I expect them to make a decision for one option, if they survive, than they choose whatever Etihad tells them to choose, so for a common fleet in the EY-group, most likely neos
- SAA - very political question, the managements wants the 350, so I expect them to go for the neo as well

I'd love to hear your suggestions and opinions
