Seriously though, I had a friend's father down at the California DMV throw a hissyfit. They wouldn't issue him a temporary handicapped placard without a doctor's note and California had issued ticketed him for having an out of state handicapped placard. The clerk had also refused allowing him to talk to a manager; so he took off his prosthetic leg and pounded the counter loudly saying (just not quite a shout) "can you just issue me a handicapped placard, I lost my leg in Korea!" until they did issue the placard.
Oh, the security and Sheriff on site were all veterans, so they were actually cheering him on. (He was smiling and not a mean yell... just a projected voice.)

Was she complaining about the lack of leg room ? Considering this was a holiday charter with tight seat spacing, even a legless person might complain.
Still, this was a very serious incident, she should face charges and banned from flying for a while.

I had a friend in school who had one leg. He had a state of Missouri handicap license plate on his car, but the university gave him a ticket for parking a in student lot handicap spot without a student handicap permit. When he went to apply for a permit the clerk demanded a doctors not even though he had a state plate. He removed his leg and waved it around, and got the correct parking permit.
