Seeing that the Hall of Fame game is tomorrow, now is as good a time as any to get the annual team charter thread going.

Haven't been able to find the Giants charter (I assume it's going EWR-CAK).

There was also a UA 764 charter from going TPA-CAK-EWR today, don't know who was on it but I am assuming sports related. Can vary wildly. There is no uniform answer.

50 something on the team. 10 or so coaches. Front office staff. Trainers, Medical staff and assistant staff so another 30?

100 people total?

The big thing is, and it's why they use widebodies is the players are often given an entire row of seats. So one player will use up a row of 3 seats.

F and J class is normally coaching staff, execs and captains/veterans.

Rookies actually get their enclosed own suites! Well, the veterans call them suites, we typically call them the lavatories.

I think you're right. Hawaiian has carried the Raiders for something like the last 15 years! I've heard that the Raiders wanted 330 equipment and not the 767 this year and HAL couldn't accommodate that request.

The Pats often charter a DL 763 out of PVD, although the sometimes use BOS.

I doubt this was the team (cough) but a Socata TBM-850 made the flight this morning from PVD to CAK this morning.

But aside from carrying the team to and from its Away games (which they don't), I'd be hard-pressed to figure out what this news even means.

Actually Delta carriers the 49ers and have for the past couple of seasons.

Just my theory, it's because the HAL 330s have AVOD including screens in all seats, which the 767 doesn't. UA and HA shared the contract last season because word had it that due to HAs winter flight schedule they couldn't accommodate the team on the longer trips taking the team to the Mid-West and East Coast. So... perhaps the team got a glimpse of what they COULD have, in terms of entertainment and comfort. Because the Raiders and HAL have had such a great relationship and the fact that the team LOVES flying HAL, they thought they could push the issue for getting a better product for their charters. When HAL couldn't meet their needs, HAL said no to the contract.

Makes sense that they switch. It can't be that efficient for HA to do the charters.

I would have assumed that they used a plane that ran a Hawaii-OAK flight, but since that's not the case (HNL-OAK is an A330) so do they ferry one in from Hawaii?

With every plane going to or from Hawaii in order for them to have a plane for a charter they would have to cancel the returning Hawaii leg of some route or ferry one from Hawaii.

That all just seems incredibly inefficient so either Oakland was paying extra to use HA or HA was burning a lot of potential profit to do that charter

I don't know if you have this answer, I'm merely speaking aloud, but maybe you or someone else does.

A couple of years ago on of the local media stations answered a few viewers questions as to why the Packers always traveled by W/B aircraft, the reporter stated that the tea m had to travel by W/B's was primarily due to the weight of all of the equipment that they had to travel with plus the fact that some of players get to have family member or a friend travel with them. Most of time the team travels with 54 players, 12 coaches(and wife's most of the time), Medical and trainers about 12 to 15 staff, equipment managers 3 or 4 of them. and lastly the play by play broadcasters and their technical staff and maybe some of the local media that normal travels with the team. All in all around 160 to 180 people. Then if the team goes to a playoff game it will be more. Last time the Packers went to a Super Bowl game they had two a/c chartered a 744 and a 757.

I read on another board that the NY Jets will be taking a UA 787-9 out to SAN on Oct 03/5,
flight number was 1827 last season.

That's odd in that DL8871 just arrived BWI from SJC with the 49ers. The DL charter skeds show the 49ers all season unless something has recently been changed.

Ahhh the classic A.net joke. It's old and not very accurate anymore. It's been 18 months since the ending of the 787 grounding.

The only airlines that seem to whine about the 787 still are AI and Norwegian.

AI is a basket case and the boy who cried wolf. Nobody can possibly take them serious.

NLH has a problem in that they literally run them nonstop. Tight turns and leave very little time for tech issues that arise on ANY PLANE TYPE and any preventative maintenance.

The press release from the stadium says United has "the right to fly the team", not necessarily that they will be flying the team, so far DL still has them but guess that could change any time UA sees fit.

Las year when Seattle played the (ahem destroyed) N.O. Saints they were on a WB for a late night flight because the aircraft went tech... it was NOT a 787.... any AC can go tech, no need to patronize...

767-400.

The Saints use a 753 for shorter flights, and a 764 for the longer hauls.

I was just about to ask who might be flying into ROC to play the Bills. Not surprised you're already on the case! Sorry you'll miss the 764 flights. Let's see if anyone else flies in--or if the Bills fly out. Is the 764 a new type for ROC? I was so glad you got the shot of the World MD-11 when it was in.

Yes,the WO MD-11 was a great catch . That will never happen again . I have some UA 739 shots on the 'other' site. I hate it when work gets in the way of my hobby

Departed at 1:29AM this morning and arrived at 2:20AM.

Not sure on the tail number, I haven't had time to look.
