Starling Aviation is the owner. I think it is or was registered in the Canary Islands. There are lots of pics of it as well in the files on here.

Looks like a take off on the standard Boeing "house colors" that started with the 787 or so.

Cayman Islands, a British territory and significant offshore financial center in the Caribbean, not Canary Islands.

Current registered owner since 2011 from the Isle of Man aircraft register (M-xxxx):

Starling Aviation Ltd
P O Box 309,
Ugland House,
South Church Street,
Georgetown, Cayman Islands

The aircraft is one of the last 30 or so passenger 727s built. I think it's been operated as a VIP aircraft for several owners since it was delivered in November 1981. Converted to a "Super 27" at some point.

I did not realize that winglets were available for the 727. How many were equipped with them?

If not mistaken, winglets were part of the Super 27 conversion, along with the JT8D-217/219 engines as used on the MD-80 in the outboard positions only. Note the larger engine nacelles.

Wow! I'm impressed! Especially with the cockpit windows treatment...
Why can't current airline management choose liveries like this instead of eurowhite this and eurowhite that? Oh yeah, that's right, cost and maintenance issues ... Sigh!
Hopefully something a bit radical and different is what Etihad has in store for the world in their new 'desert diamond' colourscheme...
Congratulations to the designers of M-STAR's colourscheme - absolute top class!
Cheers,

They're not exclusive to the Super 727, I've seen them on 727s that don't have the larger nacelles also.

I couldn't agree more. That is a beautiful aircraft. Of course, I may be somewhat biased . . .

At one time FedEx had several (maybe 11) B727-2S2F (RE) (i.e., Super 727s), The FedEx configuration did not have winglets fitted. I don't think that B727 style winglets were available during the time of the Super 727 upgrade program.

Back about 20 years ago - when jump seat riding was still authorized at FedEx - I was fortunate to experience a ride from CVG to MEM on a FX RE frame late one evening. The crew told me to pull my seat belts tight as I was in for a _crotch rocket_ ride. They explained that following takeoff they would be authorized to climb straight to FL330 without having to lower the nose to attain climb speed. I was impressed. The FedEx birds were powered with -217Cs on the pods and a -17A in the middle.

Donald Trump's old 727 had winglets, but the standard JT8Ds.

I can attest to the rocket ride! Taking an empty one of the ex-FedEx Supers on a flight less than 30 minutes is a handful. Pitch it straight to 20 degrees and hold on. I can't imagine how it would be feel to be a passenger in one of the these Super VIP birds. Even using reduced power, it's an aggressive takeoff.
