The wings look a lot like A330 wings, but the fuselage somehow reminds me more of a 767 on steroids.

A good-looking aircraft in any case.

I believe so. Same as 787. But noting has been official, as far as I know.

I was gazing at the latest overhead shot of the 787-9 yesterday thinking how beautiful it was for a twin, with those wings, it looks like it's flying while standing still. This one, not so much. Need better pictures of more, finished planes.

Those winglets, raccoon eyes, and odd nose shape make this one of the ugliest planes I've ever seen. I like the Qatar livery, though

It's all in the eyes of the beholder as the saying goes. Love the racoon eyes, makes other jets look like they've taken their makeup off

This has to be the finest looking A/C Airbus has ever rolled out. Very sleek, so used to seeing it in Airbus Colours that it's nice to see in a customer livery for a change. Can't wait to see the finished product!

It's a nice aircraft, however I can't help feeling that Airbus got a lot of inspiration from the dreamliner, but in some ways not very successfully. I don't like the wing design and the winglets. It looks like the winglets were a simple add-on to an already existing wing design whereas the Dreamliner wing looks like a whole new design to me. Hmm, from some angles the A350 looks very nice, and from others, it doesn't look good at all. I've never felt that ambivalent about a plane design before.

Great livery - but the plane itself... yeesh!

In some ways, very ordinary, like the fuselage shape, the tail, the engines. Very ordinary. In others, very cool - mainly the winglets. But that nose and cockpit - my god what were they thinking? Ungainly as all hell. and the raccoon eyes are only there to cover up the ugly, right? I mean, they are the 380 cockpit windows style. The nose is bizarrely angled in all sort of contortions.

I see what people mean by it "not looking like a widebody". Perhaps just the angle of the photos, but kinda cool as it adds some distinction.

I'd even argue the interior is clunkily designed, though not as bad as the A380 with its A300-style air conditioning vents.

Does the 350 have the same itsy bitsy porthole windows as the 380?

This looks great! The thing that strikes me about the A350 is that it looks so....big. The tall landing gear/long wingspan/long fuselage combine to give the plane the look of being much larger than it is.

They are so different. Seriously, apart from them both having 2 engines, a tail, a wing and a fuselage...well we can then say that all big twins were copied from the A300, or the A340 off the IL-86 and so on. Anyway, this topic is about the fully painted plane. What an elegant plane (although i am not fond of the two-tone Qatar livery on this particular craft, or any other, for that matter.

I love two-tone liveries and I was just going to comment that I think that QR's livery is one of my favorites. Simple, inoffensive, professional, but distinctive.

I don't mind the nose, and I think the black surround windshield is distinctive. But what purpose does the black surround serve?

As for the 350 looking like a narrow body, the first 787 I saw also looked like a narrow body - only the massive engines under the wing gave it away for me.

I noticed this also, Airbus always seem to favour the longer gear legs. Personally I think it looks better, but there must be a weight penalty for this.

In the first picture it resembles the 757 nose. Otherwise ugly, will Airbus ever design a good looking airliner?! I just dont see the beauty as some seem to.

Completely agree, a fantastic looking plane and you're right about the size deception, it's only when you see it next to another bird that you realize how large it is. As for the comments on the nose etc, that has a pretty similar profile to a 787 but then, as has been said often, all planes follow a pretty set model, it's the little touches like the winglets, the raccoon eyes that make things distinctive. I've no doubt the raccoon look reduces cockpit glare too.

I must say that I have been fond of the 350, always been a huge 330 fan, but never the 350
however, after seeing it painted as it is in the pictures I must say that I am very dissappointed.

Lookewise the dreamliner is much more pleasant and the two newest airbus planes (380 and 350) just look plain ugly, at least to me they do. but this is all a matter of opinion.

I would just, as a passenger, prefer to look at the dreamliner

Probably because the fuselage crown tapers down at the empennage, which Airbus widebodies so far didn't do except for the A380 (which doesn't look like a 767 in any case).

Not really a fan of the raccoon eyes, but maybe they'll grow on me. Not sure what Airbus' intent is with it. Maybe they're trying to make the 6 pane window design look more modern/futuristic? The rest of the plane is beautiful, however. Perfect proportions.

Pretty sure they're comparable in size to the 787's. I can't remember - they're either taller & narrower or shorter & wider, but I think the overall area is equivalent.
