Frontier To Unveil New Livery On September 9

The Denver Post reports that Frontier will unveil a new livery on September 9.

I guess that perhaps the animals stay, but are worked into the fuselage more? It's probably too much to ask to bring back 80s style cheatlines ala the first Frontier...

I can only hope they take a step forward with this one, after ruining the current livery with the Frontier.com billboard titles. It would be nice if they could incorporate more green and don't go bare-bones a-la everyone else. Now that flying with them sucks I would hate for them to be boring to spot as well. Hopeful, but not optimistic.

I love the F9 livery. The animals is truly unique and I'm a sucker for billboard titles, its a throwback to a good era. I also kind of have that idea in mind for if I start my own airline.

The go ultra low cost and save money on people only to spend it on re branding. What is wrong with the current livery? I mean the one with FRONTIER painted across the fuselage, not the frontier.com crap.

Since you have sworn on the CVG thread, several times, that you will never fly Frontier, why should the animals matter to you?

Of all seriousness, the current Frontier livery is one of the best in the industry. Really hope they keep the animals....maybe try having insects?

The animals are really the only thing that makes the Frontier livery unique despite its otherwise eurowhite design. Losing them would be very sad...and would cost Frontier a major marketing angle as well, as the animals just plain work for advertisements, sales, and brand identity. I hope this is just a tweak into something less garish than FLYFRONTIER.COM

The animals are staying, thank goodness. I think Frontiers livery is striking. I really like the large Frontier across the fuselage. It makes it easy to identify, especially for those not wearing their glasses. Hopefully the change isn't too dramatic.

I liked the FRONTIER billboard titles... the Frontier.com ones, I haven't seen in person - not sure how many planes actually got them? Either way, looks a bit more busy in pictures. Maybe just too many letters. Hard to explain, but I just preferred the Frontier titles. And yes, the animals are distinctive and apparently staying.

Someone mentioned a WN refresh earlier - the current livery is 10-12 years old, but the original "corndog" scheme lasted about 30 years? I'd like to see a return to that. It was more "southwestern" in color as well, and looked great.

I've seen lots of liveries over the very (very) long time I've been photographing planes. Frontier is one of my favourties. IMHO, not enough airlines with green in their schemes.

Just posted this to the Frontier thread before realizing there was a separate thread on the topic.

I have heard that the animals are definitely part of the new livery but on a larger scale. Supposedly, the picture of the animal covers the entire tail, not just the vertical stabilizer (perhaps like the purple paint wraps around the tailcone on Fedex airplanes?)

Also, here is a picture from the repainting of the hangar in Denver suggesting they may be using the retro 'F' symbol from the old Frontier in the new logo.

Maybe an all-green Fuselage with white FRONTIER titles across the side? Or maybe they'll add the tagline "Yet Another Whole Different Animal."

I would be happy with a "Big green F" ala the "Big red F" of the 80s. Also, make note that the animal decals on the tail (made by 3M) are very expensive. So Im guessing they will simplify their image, so it doesnt cost much. Personally I dont know how much more simple they could get. I hate the BILLBOARD look. Couldnt stand it on PA either. I miss the early F9 scheme with Frontier in script.

The new livery doesn't flow well to me. Maybe its because the shade of green doesn't match the blue sky on the first tail. I like the retro F, but there is this small green arrow that runs down the length of the plane which doesn't make sense to me. The animal is the entire tail and not just the stab. The livery will be revealed with the Bear tail. F9's new livery is done, just two more US airlines to go this year!

Personally, I think the FRONTIER livery is probably the best in the entire industry (I don't care too much for "FLYFRONTIER.COM")…too many letters. I love the silvery/gray BIG letters with the engines painted green. It really looks especially stunning on the Airbus 319/320 aircraft. And I really miss the "whole different animal" slogan. My hope is that they don't ruin a great thing. It's difficult for me to see how they could make it better. And if it ain't broken, why fix it? The retro thing could be interesting indeed, though!!…

Southwest and American had their old liveries for 30+ years, and Continental for 20+ (30+ if you include the new United), and I don't see why F9 couldn't also easily pass this off.

IMHO, the F9 website is really what is in serious need of an update…I hope they will update this instead of simply investing in a new paint job.

The thing I noticed about frontier now that they have increased CLE flying is that unless they are having a sale the fates they offer are not that great! WN beats them every time so far.

What does this have to do with a new livery thread? You must be looking at close in dates. F9's LFs have been in the high 90s so I'm not surprised that they can charge a premium for the few remaining seats. I did compare F9 and WN from CLE to LAS on 11/12 and 11/18. F9 is $264.19 before any bag fees. WN is showing $431.20 (cheapest). That's $167.01 more.

Firstly, I am looking forward to seeing the new/revised Frontier livery. The F9 livery launched with the first A319 IMHO was timless. If they were to tweak anything, at least have the Frontier livery font in the same dark grey as its in now.

With regards to the WN livery, I am obviously very curious about this.

Remember that the tails, if being reintroduced on a larger size, will all be different. The green is already in use, and ties the various tails together as a group. First Air in Canada does a very similar tail scheme, using multiple different (Northern Canada Specific) tails. Their corporate logo has colours of orange, pink, and yellow, with black font:

Same principle as to what Frontier v.2 has used since they started flying.

The new Frontier scheme arrow is more than likely a nod to the arrow that was used -on the tail- in the 60's-70's scheme:

Jokes aside, wouldn't UA, through the CO merger, own the branding rights and stylized "F" logo of old Frontier?
