This is what I have to say about SWA's new livery:

It looks like SWA merged with Hotdog On A Stick
and assumed their branding....

Their old liveries were classy and intelligently designed. This new one looks like a kid with crayons designed it. So basic and bland. The entire fuselage just plain blue? Big white SOUTHWEST billboard titles and nothing else? Yuck. They could have just changed the blue color of the existing livery and it would have been much better. But once again marketing departments and MBA grads are obsessed with brand identity and marketing campaigns.

It looks like a cargo airline to me. Just something about makes me think that It should be on one of the many cargo stands in MIA.

I like it! Bold lettering for identification of the brand, retention of the old colors (well, yellow instead of orange), and no orange underbelly (which I never liked). They will look good flying into HOU.

Major +++ for a non-Eurowhite livery. You will still be able to spot an SWA plane at 10NM.

I happen to like it better than the current livery. Not by a lot, but better by a little bit. Certainly could have done better.

As I've said several times during this discussion, I'm no fan of the current livery, but getting rid of the red underbody is just wrong. As for "at least it's not Eurowhite".... WN liveries have NEVER included that. Kind of irrelevant. Still not a step forward, IMO.

I respectfully disagree on the relevance. Many airlines' colorschemes never included EuroWhite, until they did. Many recent brand-refreshes have included a new EuroWhite livery that has been badly-received on A.Nut, so we should be relieved that Southwest did not follow the same path as many recent brand-refreshes.

And with this new livery rollout, the brick just made relations with its employees that are still in labor negotiations much, much more difficult. It's hard to plead poverty when you're committing to rolling out an entirely new brand initiative.

The colors on the tail look like ketchup & mustard, though this new livery is still better than an all-white livery.

The font proves this is a rebranding, not a one-off or special livery. Its growing on me quickly. I like it better than Canyon Blue scheme for sure. I also like the darker shade of blue. I would suspect in the next day that the website will be refreshed with the new branding.

It took much longer for AA to grow on me, still think the flag tail for AA is a bit much on small airframes but it looks darn nice on the 77W.

I suppose if they wanted to update the current font for SOUTHWEST on the plane, or even moved that to the new position, fine. But the red belly had a nice blend in with the tail.

Maybe there will be a new theme, hot dogs fly free! Free ketchup and mustard!

When they went to Canyon blue the interior changed also.

PS - if it was paint shop/repair station employees that leaked the photo they should be fired.
The repair station should be embarrassed for lack of discipline.

I have represented at Boeing and numerous repair stations - and livery changes were never leaked like this.
What a shame.

Actually, they could go back to their very first interior from 1971. (See second and third photos.)

All the seats back then were either red, yellow or blue.

Couple more thoughts...

I wonder why they felt the need to move the titles from the tail. The 737 tails are often the only part of the planes visible from inside and outside (some) airport terminals.

I'm surprised how wild this is considering the effort to transform their image to look more professional. For example, it's the complete opposite of the changes to employee uniforms. I've heard and read a lot of comments saying it looks like it's designed for a kindergarten class. Ouch...

Why do airlines all feel the need for billboard titles? And why can't an airline come up with a nice, sharp-looking paint scheme that is unique instead of an obvious attemp to stick to modern trends? Every time I see an airline change their scheme I think, really? That's the best you could come up with? Or in some cases, what were they thinking??

I don't hate this new scheme. But it will take some getting used to and I'll miss the current one.

Wouldn't it be epic if the "leaked" livery/colors were a great, exotic ruse? Can you imagine if something came out of the blue looking totally different? I'm not holding my breath, but it would be pretty cool!

I can only think back to the 1980s and the aviation industry's fascination with the stealth fighter. Conceptional drawings were out, models made, and when finally made public with a grainy image and a very short video, the airplane looked totally different than everybody outside "the know" expected!

Unlikely, but we can dream....

If they would've made they yellow the same color as their mustard rocket plane, it would look so much better and scream SWA. By retro jet I mean the one with the shiny brown-gold scheme that's based on the original one but isnt, for lack of a better word, "flat". And make the titles the same size and font as it was on the tail and make them the same brown/gold I suggested. That would look good.

I have always liked that the Southwest titling was only on the aircraft tail and not the fuselage.

I'm not a fan of the yellow. I think the orange looks so much better.

Looks like they've updated southwest.com... blue, red, yellow heart. I guess we're going to be seeing more of the heart also.

Will bags no longer fly free?

I think they did a fairly good job here. It definitely has an LCC "fun" feel to it, and it will really stand out. On the other hand, the primary colors look somewhat childish and the white titling on blue is very reminiscent of Sun Country. I wish they would have added some more sophisticated touches by using secondary-color accents or doing something with the tail other than just bringing it down the tail, which is getting pretty tiresome. It has a very Texas feel to it while also being rather generic (perhaps that's a Texas thing), which both harks to the brand's roots while moving beyond it. Overall a B-.

Exaclty. The orange and mustard of the original livery were unique. This looks like it's been designed by a child with a basic 6-crayon box of Crayola. I can't imagine WN without the orange. And where does all this white come from when there was none before? Not only in the title (hideous), but also in the separations between colors in the tail (they were in non-primary yellow before). And why did they get rid of the titles in the tail? All in all, I truly dislike this livery (while I'm starting to like AA's more and more).
