Thanks for that video. Not only of the awesome views of the new Paint.
But watching a 800 go in and out of BUR.
Remember some WN history of the pilots last conversation before landing and over running the runway at BUR. Was imagining landing a 800 in BUR.
Another skeleton being put away with a refreshing New sexy look. The LUV is back at Southwest the airlines!
Good job.

IMO the new livery makes WN look even more like a LCC

That accident occurred in 2000, and WN didn't get a -800 until 2012. How would those pilots have known how a -800 performed at BUR? Can you provide a link where this conversation took place in the NTSB report?

I dislike the same element of both: How the billboard titles get interrupted by the windows. If they could figure out how to do Billboard titles without that effect or make the titles heavy enough that the letters still seem complete despite it, it would look a lot better. Alternately, if they could figure out how to adjust the kerning and spacing to avoid going through windows... but on some planes that's just not possible.

Well for a few years WN has toyed with the idea of getting the 737-800. Back before the BUR over run accident there was quite a buzz going around that WN was looking at the cost and performance numbers for markets like LAX-BWI. The pilots flying that flight had similar discussion on that prior to landing in BUR that fateful day.

Meh. Don't waste your time or energy responding to that user regarding anything having to do with WN.

Thanks for the video. I think this is the first video for WN that I have noticed the LED strobes on approach. I have seen them in person and love them. I still think they should paint the trailing edge flap fairings blue, at least on the 800's, I think that would look good, also as mentioned earlier, why aren't the hubcaps blue. Or, paint the heart on the hub cap??? I think it may get a few tweaks in the future.

Nice! Someone posted in the Rumor thread that WN couldn't fly the -800 in to BUR...

I don't think it looks bad at all. Didn't like it at first in the leaked pictures, but it's bright and colorful.

The worst livery around is hands down the UA/CO mess. Nothing even comes close.

F---in hideous...just like the past two liveries. The canyon blue is a great color, they could have done something really beautiful with it...but they didn't.

To me, WN's new livery is a familiar adaptation of their current livery. Sure, billboard titles don't make everybody happy, and the window holes through the title don't look great, but overall I think the update is in keeping with their brand. At worst, it is disappointing they didn't make more sweeping changes but in this forum, changing one shade of a color is a big deal, so it has to be kept in perspective. At least a new WN and old WN aircraft side by side look like they are from the same airline.

On a small single aisle plane, if you are going billboard, you are going through windows.

One livery, AA's looks like it was designed by a credible brand firm. The other (Southwest's) looks like it was designed by amateurs using an old MacPaint program

I guess it is in the eye of the beholder. The WN update looks like the careful update of a well-known brand done by a committee that doesn't want to offend anybody. The AA livery is, frankly, abysmal to me and even after all of these months the tail gives me pause to wonder "what the hell were they thinking?" when I see one.
None shall pass!!!!

They put a dress and lipstick on the pig and it still looks like the same old pig.
