Here I found an interesting video of aircraft tracing that shows how it was when in March 2011 the huge earthquake
struck eastern half of Japan. Haneda is located about 250km south of the epicenter but was still shaken hard enough
to make all the approaching aircraft get away for assuring secure of the runway. The quake itself started at 14;46, first
softly but gradually harder and harder. All aircraft approacing was forced to go around and then hold until runway check was over. Then approaches resumed but at 15;18 the massive aftershock hit and again they were made to go around.
One comment on this youtube video says the commenter was onboard B737 that managed to land at 14;48, that tower ceased his aircraft on the runway. He was first vertically shaken then horizontally so severe that his head shortly hit the aircraft window. The shake lasted for very long.
Hope there is something to share with you, thanks.
Wow, very interesting, thanks for sharing it. There was a moment at 15:42 when two planes - a 735 and a 763 - look liked they were landing on top of each other. I wonder if that is in error, if those two planes landed extremely close behind one another.
I love the flight tracker program also - which software is that?
JAAlbert, this tracking system is provided by the Japanese Government for the purpose of letting those residents,
affected by jet engine noise living under approroach and departure course to/from Haneda Airport, monitor
actual fight course.
