CO Meatball Logo Flies Again

It seems newcomer Mahogany Air of South Africa have a familiar logo.

And it appears that on the body of the aircraft between Mahogany and Air is the Piedmont Airlines old logo.
Landing on every Continent almost on an annual basis!

Guys, what's the problem here?
I mean, come on. The Continental logo was a circle with stripes going SIDEWAYS.
This thing is a circle with them going VERTICALLY.
I mean, there's no similarity whatsoever. It's completely different.
AND, I forgot to mention, it's GRAY.
Totally different.

One of hose entities is still in existence in the US with the logo being visible on the fuselage of the aircraft as you board a Dash 8.

No, it's the CURRENT Piedmont logo! Even worse. There is no way they received permission to use that logo. Given that, I doubt they have permission to use the meatball either. Doesn't inspire much confidence...

I've loved in South Africa for almost all my life, and this is the first time I ever heard of such an airline. I feel like like they're going to try and compete with Federal Air...

The livery looks horrid, either way. Plus, I don't think that Mahogany will ever reach the size that it will become an issue.

I think the point was, we could be seeing the logo slapped on a train car rather than gracing the side of an airplane.

When I was at LIT, the other day, I saw an RJ taxiing that still had the CO meatball on the tail but no noticeable other forms of livery on it.

However! The BAe146 did have the Meatball logo on it, in the 80s. It flew with Presidential out IAD to FLA destinations.

It is a lawsuit. The thing is does UCH want to spend the time and money chasing an international trademark infringement? It is not changed enough to orient it vertically.
