SkyMark A380?

Tue Sep 16, 2014 6:43 am

Hi guys,

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought SkyMark were not taking up their A380 orders. But there is an almost complete one in the rear of this photo? https://www.airliners.net/photo/Untit...irways)/Airbus-A380-861/2502861/M/

Isn't it a bit late to pull out now? What are the implications for the airline and airbus if they do?

Thanks

Matt

For SkyMark, they lost all of the deposits they previously paid, in addition to a heavy penalty (if Airbus demand for it according to the contract)

For Airbus, they just have to shopping around to find if any airlines are interested in those frame.
The deposits they received should be more or less enough to cover the manufacturing costs.

Airbus cancelled the order, not Skymark. And yes, as far as I've read, Skymark loses its deposits and any progress payments. How much that is hasn't been made public AFAIK.

perhaps Airbus can offer it to 5J, it will be the cheapest airfares to be offered and widest destination routes

Maybe they should have took the risk, and started Trans Pacific with the new A380s.
