Will these be operated by 321s ordered by AA (and equipped with sharklets)? Or will they be US birds?

I assume they're legacy AA jets.

I also noticed some new AA A321's on the DFW-LAX runs

as well as a single daily roundtrip from DFW to SFO and back

This is in line with the opening, from October, of a 320 pilot base at MIA, both domestic and international. The international base, however, will only have one line next month and will fly the DFW-SAL sector.

I think SAL is an A319 right?

Most likely yes. But it can also happen, later on, that ex-US birds are assigned to fly on pre-merger AA hub to hub routes such as MIA-BOS and MIA-DFW. And likewise, legacy AA birds can be assigned to fly out of US hubs on routes to non pre-merger AA hubs, for example CLT-SFO.
12 years ago when AA and TWA merged, ex-TWA MD-80s were seen mostly on routes out of STL but a while after the merger they were mixed with nAAtive MD-80s in the whole system. A year ago, I flew on an ex-TWA MD-80 from ORD to LGA.

When two airlines merge, the separate fleets still fly out of the respective hubs in the beginning, but after a while, the two fleets get integrated into one.

With plenty of teething pains, including one flight I had better than a 3 hour delay on.

With the 32B code, these witll be original AA bird and not US. US's coding is the simple 321.

It will be interesting to see what original AA routes will US A319/A320s added, and US routes that will see 738, and 763s.
