And just before everyone goes gaga on the fact that Jet is adding 3 flights to Abu Dhabi, please keep in mind that

a) Jet is adding 3 new services to Doha (2nd Daily BOM-DOH and daily TRV/CCJ-DOH)
b) Jet is also going 5 times daily between Mumbai and Dubai and is also launching Kochi - Dubai
c) Jet becomes the largest Indian carrier to offer services to the Gulf Region with 294 weekly frequencies.

Also, Jet will be adding PNQ-AUH with similar timings to GOI-AUH.

In 2015, one can expect Jet to add services between TRZ/IXE/CCJ/TRV/ATQ/CJB and AUH.

with the addition of all these destinations along with the ones currently served, is 9W going to take over all the "regional-Indian-flying" from EY whereas the latter just concentrates on the obvious ones like DEL, BOM, BLR?
in return, EY could take the aircraft and deploy it on other routes in the Gulf region, East Africa or Souteastern Europe.

in my opinion 9W could easily take over: JAI / AMD / CCJ / COK / TRV - AUH routes

Over next two years

EY will have additional 24000 seats/week but restricted to 9 stations.
9W will have additional ~12000 seats/week to 23 stations.

With EY 24,000 more seats/week, it will be interesting to see how EK,QR and others handle EY onslaught. Both EK and QR have very few seats left.
All posts are just opinions.

No, they will not do that.

The plan is to establish a greater footing in each of the markets that EY currently serves, and gain additional reach by allowing 9W to operate from cities EY isn't allowed to (ex - GOI, LKO).

Besides, COK/CCJ/TRV/JAI/AMD do very well with EY and I don't think they would be going anywhere. They are better off bringing a dual presence in these markets. Especially the Kerala region (COK/CCJ/TRV) where volume counts.

I believe EY will have some spare capacity since they cannot deploy widebodies into every city that they can serve. AFAIK, by Feb 2015, they will have used 20,468 seats per week.
