New WN Painted Aircraft

Tue Sep 30, 2014 3:46 am

With the new WN livery, I was inspired by the AA Painted A/c thread to start one for WN.

(ie. What A/C are painted, where they are flying, which ones are being painted and which ones are up next)

(Mods please remove this if there is a similar thread)

WN planes rotate throughout the system, they don't stay on particular routes.

It would literally require a daily post, and you're not likely to get anyone with that info that's going to post it daily. Especially when it exceeds 8-10 a/c.

I just randomly pulled up two different tails, and one visits 6 and the other 7 different cities in one day.

Alright guys, I think we get the point that listing routes is not appropriate. But the OP is still asking for a list of WN repainted aircraft, just like we've done with every other airline livery change for the past decade.

So I'll start it off...this is what I know of:

-700
N708SW
N913WN

-800
N8642E Heart One
N8645A Heart Two

N913WN: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/airplanes/n913wn/
N8642E: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/airplanes/n8642e/
N8645A: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/airplanes/n8645a/

On average 6 existing aircraft are painted per month. Factor in new deliveries and Air Tran conversions, the company is anticipating the 60 that N471 posted by the end of 2014. Complete fleet repaint should be done within 7 years based on a normal repaint schedule.

How many more FL 73Gs are still in FL colors?

Saw new colors on a 73Gs flying into Hobby overhead yesterday afternoon here in Houston - I know I'll be cranking my head up now every 2 minutes to see if I can catch a new one much like when we started to see the Canyon Blue start it's proliferation.

I would say NO, the 500s are disappearing at a pretty good clip, they are going faster then the 300s. I can't see any of them getting the new livery.

I wish they'd placed the heart over the beacon on the belly. Having the beacon flash would give the heart a beat!

I'm mixed on the new scheme...

I saw the new scheme in SLC on an -800. I like the color of blue they have chosen. I like the tail much better than I like AA's tail. I think the "Southwest" font looks less cartoony in person than it did in the original pictures I saw.

Are they re-doing the interiors on these planes? I haven't flown Southwest in a few years now. What are their interiors like nowadays? Still the blue and beige seats?

I haven't heard anything since the day Heart One debuted, but they said they do plan on updating the interior to reflect their new look. I wonder what this means exactly and when they will do this.

I would think the aircraft "with winglets and evolve interior" will get painted as each of their paint schedule comes up. JMO but I don't think any of the other classics will be repainted unless they are just horrendous looking and still have a couple years of life.

I do know the "wings and heart" medallion on the forward windscreen is going to be removed. As far as color, who knows, we just invested a ton of money on the Evolve interior. Maybe replacing the seat covers/cushions. There is a new seat cushion coming to support the legs better. I know every time I fly it feels like I am sliding out of the seat. This is supposed to be rectified by a new seat cushion with a bit more thigh bolster. Just what I have heard.

I agree with you! It would also be nice to see the Southwest titles on the belly of the -800s as well!

Maybe 737tdi could answer this, if there needs to be patch work done to that part of the A/C with the heart, would that be considered heart surgery?

Does anyone know if N793SA will be left as is?

Surely, as the first plane to be painted in the Canyon Blue livery, it must be special, like 792 being the last painted in the Desert Gold livery.

They are getting through the system. With 643 planes and only 14 painted/in process, your chances of seeing one painted in the new livery are only a little over 2%. Keep looking and eventually you will get lucky.

There is no "home" for our aircraft. You can bet the -500s will stay in the SW part of the country (for the most part), but all other aircraft move throughout the system.

Landed at LAS last night and saw three of the WN aircraft here in the new colors. Not so bad "in person." I still think their old colors were just fine, but at least this change isn't horrid.

Looks as if they are progressing quickly on the livery change.

There are currently -300's that are in for new paint, so I see no reason why they wouldn't be painted in the Heart Livery if they are due for repainting anyway.

Exactly: As I posted earlier, if a classic is on it's scheduled repaint I think they will put them in the new livery.

Does anyone know if N793SA will be left as is?

Surely, as the first plane to be painted in the Canyon Blue livery, it must be special, like 792 being the last painted in the Desert Gold livery.

I believe they said Warrior One (the first 800) will be the only one left in the Spirit livery

I don't recall them confirming it would be the only one, it was just the only one they mentioned.

FYI, N711HK and N714CB are still in the Desert Gold livery (HK and CB are for Herb and Colleen, of course).
