To save yourself a few minutes, I would also check-in online with Southwest. Can do so 24-hours prior. On the walk/bus question, I would walk. You might waste 5-mins waiting on the bus by which time you could be half way to T-1 already. Anyhow after long flight, stretching your legs outside might be welcome.
