Virgin Atlantic, 787, And ATL Question

Sun Oct 19, 2014 1:37 am

Hey all!

I think I remember reading here on A.net that Virgin Atlantic was doing their Inagural LHR-ATL flight with the 787-9 on October 23rd. After checking my calendar, I did a quick search to try and find that flight, to verify I had the correct information, but couldn't find it. First day I saw was October 26 LHR-ATL on the A333.

Also did a search trying to find that article on A.net, but couldn't.

My question is: Is the 787-9 going to do the one time October 23 LHR-ATL flight?

Please link in the article previously If you have it, and correct me if wrong.

Thanks!

Michael

The 787-9 (Birthday Girl) is only a one-time occurrence at ATL for the launch of services. I believe it will go to BOS afterwards.

Looks like DL is still operating 3 flights (#39 on 76, #85 on 77, #9 on 76) through 25Oct, on 26Oct 1 DL flight disappears and a Virgin 330 shows up on the schedule as the first flight at 0930. The Delta flights change flight number and get retimed slightly but are both 76 (varying between 300er and 400). I don't see the 789 anywhere on the schedule.

From what the folks down in ATL are saying, it will be departing ATL with the Atlanta Falcons on board to take them to London for their NFL game the following week.

Actually the Falcons are leaving from Baltimore going to London tonight:

And will be coming back after the first Virgin flight. The 787 flies in on the 23rd overnights and leaves back out if I recall on the 25th. but I could be wrong on the departure date.

You are correct. Was just going by a facebook group from ATL. Never once thought to check the dates.

Thanks for the correction.

Does anyone know if this 787-9 flight will be parking at the gate?
