As everybody knows, the first AA787 is now completed and ready for delivery. But American won't put it on scheduled flights right away. In other words, passengers won't be flying on it right away.

The illustration (link in previous post) of the Scoot 787-9 in the air shows the yellow-white edges of the Scoot-swoops lining up perfectly with the wing's upswept profile. Quite a creative move to think about the wing position in flight and with a beautiful result, too. I'm starting to wonder if the 787-9 is going to be the prettiest large plane around.

I'm loving these evening photos. Really makes the 787 even more stunning.

Looks like the first delivery to Scoot is now not until mid January next year. It was pushed back to Jan. 15, 2015 though I don't know the reason.

Except nobody knows that because you skipped the whole flight test portion of the process. Delivery won't happen for weeks.

Lockheed only built 250TriStars during its entire run of a much longer time.

With all the problems Boeing is turning out the planes at an unheard of clip for a widebody.

Agreed. However 250th delivery looks like it won't be until February of next year.

Not a single test flight out of Everett in two working days. Boeing scheduled a flight for ZA567 (Royal Jordanian, LN 233) this afternoon but it didn't get airborne.

As much as I respect SQ, that use of the code just seems wrong. It will always be ATA in my mind. I miss the airline and I miss TZTristar500's insanely informative and entertaining posts about it.

Nice treat for UA customers today on SEA/LAX - they used a 789 on the mid-afternoon departure - flight 2161 just departed.
Lucky dogs, wish I'd known, would have taken a day off work and gone on a road trip.

That's what I figured - UA's done that in the past - taken a new bird over from PAE to SEA and used it for a revenue flight to where they intend to truly put in in service. Had to do a double-take as I looked out my office window and saw it before it vanished into the clouds.

I got a nice tour of the very first 777 they took (I believe the first delivered 777 to any airline) when they brought it to SEA for an employee and customer event prior to putting into service. Have a photo floating around somewhere with me leaning against the port-side engine. None of us had ever seen a jet engine that huge before.

The latest Boeing O&D shows that 4 previously unallocated AerCap 789s have now been allocated RR engines. Wonder who signed the lease with AerCap for those frames??? AerCap RR 789s had so far been allocated to LAN (6) and Thai (2).

I'll say. They pumped out 66 widebodys in the last quarter, including 31 787's. What I wish is that the testing would go as fast.

Korean Air has 787's on order; they were an early customer, but have pushed deliveries back. I believe they have also switched their orders to the 787-9. Deliveries are not scheduled to begin until 2016.

How Avianca is going to take in 2 days the first plane without a C1 ? :P
